Very interesting post. Rummaging out of boredom and this was one of the first to pop up.
In any case, every female gamers' experience is different. The most I can say (and this is speaking from my personal experience) is to be upfront and yourself. It's true, some guys do try to act out and different; but in general it is all gamers' job (of all varieties) to try and make gaming a pleasant experience. So in point, just throw out everything that makes us different and keep what makes us the same: people who enjoy playing video games. Be upfront and honest. I know that sentiment gets lost considering you're behind a screen and no one knows who you are and what you look like, but it's a value I hope people still have.
