I've encountered him 3 times (once on the Warsat event, and twice with the invading armies event).
On all 3 occasions there have been 4 or more guardians and we've barely been able to scratch him. What gives?
Any tips on how to take him down? Reminds me of Randall the Vandall on steroids.

Why don't people just push him off with a sparrow? Works every time for me. :p

Big thanks to everyone who posted back - 294 murmur took his shields right down during the Warsat event and from there he was a peace of cake. Thanks all.

I've done it twice, you usually need at least 3 other people. The hardest part is getting his shield down and constantly laying on him since he spawns near the end of the Public event so all the other enemies are going to be really strong. Once his shield is down, hit him with rockets and supers.

The minions of crota start the ritual usually around the time when Urzok spawns. Go get the sword and just kill him.
-
Use arc I did it with 1 friend pulled out thunderlord he dead...
-
Murmur arc damage
-
Arc that azz like everyone said
-
He's really not that hard
-
Arc fusion rifle, arc grenade, bladedancer. The issue is getting him to focus on you and solely you while avoiding getting overwhelmed by the other hive and fallen alike.
-
Arc damage to take out his shield, use murmur. Then switch to a heavy to take out his health, have a special reload/fusion reload speed perk on your armour to help too. Try having a striker or two with you, that shield goes up FAST and you'll appreciate the quick down.
-
Arc fusion rifle and some friends with decent DPS or just max the Ghorn and do it yourself. He's not that hard if you can isolate him, the shit show going on around you can be a little distracting though.

I think he's pretty bugged when it's the enemies are moving against each other event. You can't get his shield down. I've seen people talking about it on the forums / other websites. It took two of us to kill him after a warsat event yesterday. Arc damage and he's easy to kill once his shield is down. Like, stupidly easy. It's just getting the shield down. I had a merry dance with him and introduced him to my blade.

It's not hard... arc.

Thunderlord has been the only thing that's worked for me, done it twice now -- once in a Warsat event, the other in 'the enemy is moving against each other' or whatever. get him in your sights and unload a full clip, you'll take him down at least halfway. btw my Thunderlord is a 1.0 and i haven't even hit the first damage upgrade on it yet because i never really use it. don't worry about maxing it first if you've got one sitting in the vault or something.

He's weak after you drop his shields. His shields are the only problem drop him with 4 gjallarhorn rockets after his shields down
-
When I got him it was on the warsat event. 3 others I just bullet hosed him with Super Good Advice until I ran out of ammo. Then murmur to the grill.
-
I wrecked him with Song of Ir Yut
-
I killed him with ease last night I had thunderlord and murmur
-
green/common event's he's easy... red/rare event's you better have 3 guys with G-horns... By using... http://destinypublicevents.com/ you can see which event's are coming up and I'd advise going after him during a common bud Good luck :)

Thunder lord tends to work well.
-
Don't bother with gjallarhorn cuz his shield regens fast. The best weapon to use is the 331 Plan C.
-
Have managed to do it solo using sunsinger dot's. An arc heavy machine gun (pulled it off with zombie apocalypse since my song of ir-yut isn't leveled). Murmur and mythoclast (though any hard hitting primary is good to take out his hp). I tell you a bitch to do during warsat (-blam!-ing everything spawns and both sides prioritize you). The sword of crota is good only if you can lure him away.
-
Need to use arc damage on his shields. He's a knight so use the same elemental damage that you would use on a regular knight's shields.
-
Gotta use blade of Crotas sword
-
Only his shield is tough, his health goes down really fast.

A blade of Crota usually spawns at the same time. Use the same strategy as Crota, and when the sword is gone just use the Gorgon-killing strategy. How strange for Raid tactics to be used outside of the Raid.
