Saw a thread like this and it made me want to help people myself. I will try my very best to get to everyone who posts. Now, what's the issue?

You come into this world alone. You exit it alone. Stop using others to validate your existence and the depression ends. Keep relying on others to give your life meaning and you continue the never ending cycle of heartbreak and recovery. Make a choice. Learn from the pain and suffering and realize happiness is not the sole goal of life. You exist to experience a broad range of emotions. Pain and pleasure. So. Make the choice, only you can, man up, work out, build your own self esteem and be your own pillar of support. Or continue the viscous cycle. Your choice.

Be it the the sound and smells of a rainstorm, the sun on you back, the cool sheets of your bed... Enjoy them. [b][i][u]Listen to the right music:[/u][/i][/b] I listen to music that calms me (ODST soundtrack) and music that uplifts me (EDM, Electro, other happy things) [b][i][u]Use your imagination:[/u][/i][/b] I let myself imagine entirely new worlds that I take part in, beautiful ones, exciting ones, interesting ones, and most of all... Happy worlds... (Helps if you listen to music) [b][i][u]Find a hobby you love:[/u][/i][/b] I love to play video games and build maps (Far Cry 3 has a superb editor) so I play games often. Another hobby for me is stories, be it writing or reading them I love it... Therefore I write a lot and read a lot! [b][i][u]Talk to people:[/u][/i][/b] Now this doesn't have to mean make new friends, but to go do something in society. Find a group of people you can hang out with (Clubs, rec teams, fantasy football leagues, game nights, colleagues, etc.). [b][i][u]Go out:[/u][/i][/b] This one is pretty simple, just go outside. Even if you stay in your yard, the outside world can make you feel much better. Although going into public helps. Just being surrounded by other people let's you not feel so alone, and you might even meet other people. [b][i][u]Ask your doctor:[/u][/i][/b] Some depression is very serious and actually does require medical attention, so ask your doctor what is right for you. Take into consideration how long you have been depressed and for what reason. [b][i][u]Vent:[/u][/i][/b] Find a place where you can dump you load safely. It may sound useless but just talking about it really helps. For all who read this I hope for the best of luck for you and that you will overcome any depression you may find yourself in!

Posted here a month or so ago, things are much better, I get the sad feelings every now and then and just you know get all sad. But lately it's been very well and happy. So I appreciate this thread and hope everyone on here begins to feel better and hopefully their life turns for the better. :D

I am personally severely depressed. I don't know what to do really... It started with some basic family problems. My mother was a hamster. My father smelt of elderberries. And of course, there was my beloved aunt. My aunt got bit by a rabid moose. Really. She was carving her initials into its backside with the sharpened end of a toothbrush, when out of nowhere, the majestic animal turned on her. This is probably where my problems started, I guess... If only helping people was that easy... I'm not depressed. Not anymore at least. But I tried to help many people before and it's so hard to help them sometimes. Good luck though.

You know what's the worst thing to say to a depressed person? Say you'll try and help them by giving them someone to talk to. Sure, it might feel novel and new at first, and it might make you feel like a better person. But it doesn't help him and it never will. Talking has never fixed anything. You have no idea what kind of hell people walk around with. You just want to pat yourself on the back for helping someone.

I posted in here long ago, but pretty much I wanna kill myself but I just cant do it. I got a dog several months ago whose become so attached to me I couldn't leave her like that. As for my parents and friends I dont care as much. I havent told really anyone either, as im really introverted especially about pussy shit like feelings, but I keep telling myself I can do it alone. I know I can't, but im just really stubborn. I know that I need help but I don't want to be on antidepressants. I should probably talk to my doctor, definitely not a therapist though.
