Either provide a path for IB gear to get to max light lvl 32 or don't let raid players come in and throw their weight around in IB as a 32.
Enough with the double standards!
What I am saying is that IB should be capped at whatever level you can reach by playing PvP only.
To everyone saying play both. It still doesn't solve the fact that PvE is the only path to max light level. That is why I laugh when everyone accuses Bungie of catering to PvP just because there is no Queen's Wrath event.

Well apparently instead of debating people have come up with the epic advice of:
"Git good scrub."
Truly I am humbled for not realizing I was supposed to try to be good at the game. Also never realized that I had the option of playing games other than Destiny. Thank you all!
Good first step for Bungie to offer the gloves at max light for the current event!

In ib skill > light lvl to an extent Its the matchmaking thats broken. Fireteams always beef up their stats by noob stomping for easy wins If you're a decent light lvl u'll be fine, its a challenge that makes pvp fun. Xmas newbies might have an awful time, but nows a good time to help em out & explain whats really going on & how to reach higher lvls through raids & material farming. 32 or high light lvl gear prove nothing in making sum1 "elite"

I would be ok with IB vendor selling + 36 Light gear, but I wouldn't expect it until right before HoW drops. And this gear should require radiant shards to upgrade, which just throws the player back into the raid (I would be very frustrated if IB gear was + 36 Light but used ascendant shards). Also, the lvl difference between 31 and 32 is negligible. I was a 29 going against 30s pre-DLC, and I still did as ok as I ever do. I never noticeably lost a fight that I normally would've won. On a side note, why do PvP players care about level cap? The only reason to hit 32 is if you're trying to do hard CE. Lvl 31 will get you through all the other content in the game and makes no difference in normal Crucible. Iron Banner is where you go to show off your best gear, it's not inherently more "competitive" than normal PvP.

Edited by sy2mj: 1/12/2015 7:41:29 PMI am not going to say get gid scrub but i am definately going to say LEARN HOW THE MECHANICS WORK. Depending on weapons, armour and focus there is an average difference of 5% between a lvl 31 and a lvl 32 with EXACTLY the same gear (one piece unleveled) and weapons.
-
Edited by THE COUNT DANTE: 1/12/2015 12:12:46 PMThe difference in performance of a 31 vs a 32 in Iron Banner can barely be measured. This was explained with 2.0.
-
If all you do is play PvP (not saying that's the case) why do you need to be 32? Regular PvP it doesn't matter and I was doing OK in the little of IB I played last time as a 28, and I'm not good.
-
1 level in IB is NOT noticeable whatsoever. But they already said there would be 2 pieces of 36 light gear. I really hope that they require radiant material to upgrade them too so all the pvp scrubs can cry about that too.
-
I think it's not a bad thing for gear with 36 light to be rewarded from IB. I'm not much impressed with the rarity of the new raid gear at all.
-
HELL NO KEEP THE GEAR I CHEESED FOR EXCLUSIVE
-
A one level difference is negligible. You can reach level 31 through Crucible and Faction gear so there is no reason to be up in arms about anything. It's your own fault that you are still at 29 with Rare gear on. Purchase the armor required for 31 and you'll be fine. I agree that this game is heavily weighted towards the PvE side, however just playing one part of the game will lead to you being left behind. If I only did patrols, I would have nothing to show for it (Potentially. I don't have the best of luck). If I participate in every aspect of the game, I'll be able to enjoy the rewards that come with that.
-
Pve is the main part of the game and you should have to do pve to get to level 32. I play and enjoy both so sorry for those of you who only like one. This isn't call of duty where pvp is basically the point of the game.

Edited by il DOWN li: 1/12/2015 5:53:26 PMThe system is the system. Quit trying to change it to suit your needs and devaluing everything the rest of us have done by following the system. It is well known how to reach max level. If you don't want to do the grind and play the raids that's on you but it's the way the game works and you know that. You being a lesser level is your own doing.
-
Most 32's who come in with little / no PVP experience just to throw around the fact they're 32 suck anyways, and get stomped on.
-
IB will level you to 31 (33 light) until near the time the next expansion comes out. Want to be level 32, raid. Can't raid, get ib gear they gets you raid ready; THEN you can be level 32. Anyone bitching about level because they play solo or whatever, stop crying. It's a social game meant to be played with others. Make some friends hit the raid. They practically throw gear at you in the new raid.
-
Well drop rates aren't soooo good for me in the CE raid. Titan is 32, but my 'lock and Hunter just won't get the boots but gauntlets and harnesses instead over and over again. But yeah it's my fault I guess lol. Everybody saying IB shouldn't give out 36 light gear is an imbecile that terribly sucks at PVP.
-
The level difference of one light level in iron banner is next to nothing. If vendor gear still only got you to level 29 I could see this being more of an issue. The drop rate of armor in CE is so much better than VoG, so getting the actual armor pieces is not terribly difficult (unless you are waiting for the helmet to drop). You do have some grind for the materials though. I wouldn't be surprised is the arms and legs from iron banner got you to level 32 this time around. But rather see the chest piece reintroduced. Having a team is going to be way more helpful in iron banner than one light level difference. I actually don't think the light level doesn't make enough difference in iron banner. Btw if you are a seasoned pvp player I'm sure you'll do fine and if you are that annoyed by the light level difference you can always just play regular crucible.
-
Scrubs get all the events and still complain about PvE.
cwutididther?
-
Iron banner seems to be something they throw up every time they do something they think players won't like. For example they're patching crota exploits/glitches they think we won't like it so they throw us shit to keep playing. It's a long con and we're biting down like a bunch of piranhas.
-
The problem is it would give people a way to get to level 32 without the DLC which won't fly with Activision. So I think it'll be the same as last time which is fine because I can grind for some lvl 30 armour for my hunter while working on my handgun skill.
-
I have no problem with it. I can wait to rip faces of these level 32 scrubs that think they're good at crucible because they have raid gear.
-
Reading all your replies and you are full of shit
-
Didn't Bungie say its pretty even if your 2-3 light levels?
-
That's because pve is the main point of the game dude
-
Seeing as the light was level increased for the expansion, the only way to reach it should be via the expansion.
-
If it's anything like the last one, it won't matter. Even with their "level advantage" enabled it was still the same bs. I don't even use my raid gear in pvp anyways, the skills/abilities suck for pvp.
-
I can't wait to collect your level 29 tears as I wreck you with my superior raid gear. Stay out of the iron banner if you can't hang with the big boys and girls.
