I have a question. Why does everyone say that Noble Team were spartan III's? Where did I miss that? I though the III series (save the headhunters) were trained and deployed from Onyx not Reach?

Edited by ArcTrooper 5555: 1/26/2015 1:47:17 AMAdding to the others- All Spartan IIs had special genetic characteristics (I don't know what they are) that made the augmentations far more effective than they were on a regular human (I think 5x as effective or something). These genetics are extremely valuable, and were essential to the ability of a Spartan II over the later generations. However, a few of the Spartan IIIs had these genetic characteristics, and were considered nearly as good as Spartan IIs. These Spartans, including Noble Team, were given access to many Spartan II technologies, including the MJOLNIR armor. Long story short: Noble Team (Excluding Jorge who was a II) were all Spartan IIIs who had the same, unusually potent, response to augmentations as the IIs.

They were trained on onyx but in mid training, were deemed 'special' and were sent to reach for enhanced training for the elite. And in a few years, they were paired together by chance as a spartan team and were sent on various missions against rebellions until the events of Halo reach

Edited by Lord of Admirals: 1/9/2015 7:49:36 PMYou are largely correct. It was Bungie who said this before Reach launched. Anyway, yes, while the vast majority of the SPARTAN-IIIs were trained on Onyx, some personnel were deemed to valuable to be sent on the high risk missions. So you see the Headhunters formed, and highly equipped commando squads like NOBLE Team. In fact, during Reach, we hear about two more SPARTAN-III teams similar to NOBLE. "Sir, is that true about GAUNTLET and ECHO teams being assigned to evac ops?"

Did gauntlet and echo teams get fried on reach as well?

Most likely.

Okay, so I guess that makes sense then.
