The reason that there is sway on NLB isn't because of the scope. The NLB is based on a Russian Anti-Tank rifle, the PTRS-1 20mm to be exact. Its a heavy and long gun not meant to be used in a standing position. It's honestly a huge show of strength that guardians can do this AND reload that heavy son of a broomstick as fast as we do. It's honestly a niche rifle like bad juju. Not trying to bring you down or anything, these are good suggestions.

Guardians are also super-soldiers who can shoulder-fire machine guns. Realism is not at all a factor to consider. I appreciate the gesture (and history lesson) but when standard sniper rifles are so much easier to handle, hit so much harder, and are just generally superior in every conceivable way, concessions need to be made.

It doesn't specifically say that we're "super soldiers." We're merely revived by the travelers light. Our technology advanced hundreds of years when the traveler arrived and we eliminated sickness and commonplace scientific problems. We learned to store physical things as data including our physical selves. Yes our armor is far more advanced and probably provides us with increased stamina and durability. Super strength however is a different issue. Muscles do have a maximum lift limit and having them at a constantly increased capacity could shred them and shatter our bones. And no problem I enjoy friendly debates in these forums. A lot of people have really great ideas on the story and other things.
