Dear Bungie,
It's my first time writting on these forums.
First of all, congratulations (and thank you!) for creating this amazing game.
Two of the things I love the most about Destiny are the attention to detail and the amount of loitering.
I've noticed, for example how my Regulator Mk.56's hammer responds to trigger pressure. Or how you went through the trouble of charting a whole subway system in the Buried City, complete with stop names.
For the loitering part - I bring a humble suggestion. Now you may argue it doesn't affect gameplay in any way or that it's irrelevant, but I'll just leave it here. You can address it if you feel bored, or just want to loiter a bit too :3
As you know, during loadings, we can see our jumpship, and it moves from port to starboard, often twisting too. I find that super cool. Now, my suggestion is to add navigational controls to that.
These would ultimately be your call, of course, but say for example:
- Left stick: vertical value controls pitch; horizontal value controls absolute horizontal position.
- Right Stick: horizontal value multiplies the horizontal position from the Left stick; vertical value controls absolute depth (towards the direction of travel).
- Back buttons & triggers: Triggers(R2/L2 or RT/LT) would control the vessel's roll (NOTE: Miss Holiday would like to remind you: "Safety before Swag", and that barrel rolls in high orbits are very VERY dangerous!). Buttons(R1/L1 or RB/LB) could control yaw - and if you have flaps that can be animated and assigned to each button, all the better!
(Noticed the switcheroo with all the controls? Make it real confusing so that only a true loiterer can master it)
As far as I know, jumpship models do not have a lot of moving parts. But if they did, you could assign them to the right-hand buttons - flaps moving, hatches opening and whatnot.
They do have signaling lights, and these could be assigned to directional pad buttons. Say pressing Up will shift between different timers on blinking lights, pressing Left or Right will toggle different colour schemes for light-signals. And pressing Down would, I don't know, switch starboard and port lights? Maybe it's better not to... Or shoot lasers maybe?
So. That's it :B
I hope this idea gets some love, and similar ones too. We're all just one big loiterer under the Traveler's Light.
