Dude that scout rifle is solid in both performance and reliability. You just tired of getting -blam!- by it. People who complain about a gun complain for either two reasons:
One: they dont have it and get -blam!- by it and call it trash cause they cant overcome it with something better.
Two: you have it, but just suck horribly at using it cause you have no skill what so ever.

I'd much rather use an exotic slot for something useful, not just a plain Jane scout with less DPS than legendaries

That's fine if u want to use a different exotic or prefer one over the other but that doesn't mean it's a bad gun if a special or heavy is better....your logic makes no sense
