lol I play a Defender Titan and... yeah, most of the time the shield's down or I'm dead before I get there. But you know, I figure that's probably more game mechanics and making interesting challenges in the gameplay---Guardians are supposed to be stupidly powerful, apparently, so those five Dregs mowing down might not be canon.
