[You guys came up with so many great ideas. I really wish Bungie had a look at the comments here.]
Come on, Bungie, give us the freedom to choose whatever suits our style best and don't let those awesome weapons you've designed become obsolete. Actually, don't let the stunning Vault of Glass (best content in the game) be consumed by the darkness.
I believe that Raids and its weapons should always be the at level cap. More weapons to choose from, more content to play.
Weapons are mostly situational and mixing them is part of a successful strategy (it's fun too). Having more to choose from just add to the game.
Edit: I'm not suggesting to automatically turn them into 331 attack weapons. Just give us a way to upgrade them to the current attack cap. I bet you guys can implement it in a sensible way.
Why would we go against the idea of having more relevant weapons at our disposal? It's like saying "I'd rather have less weapons, less content". Let's not be passively attached to an old format. Destiny is something new with immense potential.

Some great comments Bungie should pay some attention to:

"But what they decide to do with VOG weapons speaks to the future of the current raid weapons as well. Right now, there is an expiration date on my Fatebringer and that sucks, supremely, but now that same feeling isn't too far for my Black Hammer either. I'd like to carry these weapons with me as long as I am playing Destiny. Yeah, future weapons maybe better and I end up scraping these guns one day but I'd like to be able to decide for myself versus having no choice in the matter. Just my take on the situation".

"The problem lies within the way they have designed the upgrading system. They are going to have to re work how you upgrade weapons and armor. Yeah they could just update the VOC gear up to 32 and 331 but what happens when the House of Wolves comes out? Then they are going to have to update both Dark Below and VOC all over again the prevent them from being obsolete. They need to just make it were the players can choose the path they want to take. You choose what armor and weapons you want to upgrade to the highest rank. I mean make it a difficult task. I wouldn't mind the challenge and it would inspire players to be more creative with their characters rather than every single person wearing the same gear".

"Upgrading older legendary weapons could finally give a use for the Gunsmith beyond buying ammo and weapons at a low level. Not to mention it would help provide a larger variety of "good" weapons so that we would have more things to work towards. After all the various DLC's are done, just imagine how varied the weapon and armor selection would be. (Speaking of which, vendors should be able to upgrade armor as well.)"

Bump this all day.

I'll bump this shiz

A 32 vog would be awesome
-
Unfortunately, the vault of glass gear has been lost in the dark corners of time

Bump this all day! This issue is the biggest one i see with this game. That and not enough vault space.

Bungie stated that VoG weapons would NOT receive a bump to current damage standards and that they would be "frozen in time".

Why not just lobby for a harder mode VoG that drops 331/36 items??? Shameful this patch didn't also include that really. The basic story missions often have as many as six tiers of difficulty, how hard can be to take the Vault up a notch? And before the whiner get on here exclaiming that then there will be no reason to do the new content, that's just simply not true! That way the raid is still relevant, content is effectively added to the game both in things to do as well as things to acquire! No reason each new DLC should be replacing activities/items especially in game that's most often and fairly criticized for lack of content!!

I really hope they extend the vault. I really hate dismantling weapons that I got from engrams, nightfalls, and strikes.

Definitely need a way to upgrade them to 331.. so Yea one we don't all look like clones.. and two, all our time invested isn't a complete waste.. some people are just now getting to experience the awesomeness of fatebringer, vision of confluence, and mythoclast even though they'll most likely become obsolete with the house of wolves release... I'm not saying just give us the 331 cap easy... just maybe make it an option somehow... whether it be glimmer and a ridiculous amount of shards or a 32 level vog
-
How about giving it nearly the same dmg. Like the vex is 10ish below 331

They wouldn't do the weapons at 331 and leave the VoG at 30

bumpity

BUMP!!!!!!

No. What they should do, if anything, is make a 33 version of VoG with the 331 base dps. Raids get replaced by forth coming raids, that's how MMO (or MMO style in destiny's case) works Destiny's falls a bit short of MMO, but holds mechanics similar to one.

People making the comparison between wow expansions and these doesn't seem to understand one important concept. Wow has a ton of content and a lot of high level gear sets. This game has 1. I don't care if I have to run through them again and get the drop to get the new weapons at the new level. There isn't enough content and there is no incentive to do old raids anymore. If destiny had more content this wouldn't be a conversation, but as it stands the one raid isn't enough especially since there is no pvp gear to get to 32 as well. I don't want to look like everybody else and there is really no way to avoid that unless there is a transmog for old gear. I would say keep upgrading the raids until there are 4 or 5. Then just keep the last two active.
