[You guys came up with so many great ideas. I really wish Bungie had a look at the comments here.]
Come on, Bungie, give us the freedom to choose whatever suits our style best and don't let those awesome weapons you've designed become obsolete. Actually, don't let the stunning Vault of Glass (best content in the game) be consumed by the darkness.
I believe that Raids and its weapons should always be the at level cap. More weapons to choose from, more content to play.
Weapons are mostly situational and mixing them is part of a successful strategy (it's fun too). Having more to choose from just add to the game.
Edit: I'm not suggesting to automatically turn them into 331 attack weapons. Just give us a way to upgrade them to the current attack cap. I bet you guys can implement it in a sensible way.
Why would we go against the idea of having more relevant weapons at our disposal? It's like saying "I'd rather have less weapons, less content". Let's not be passively attached to an old format. Destiny is something new with immense potential.

Some great comments Bungie should pay some attention to:

"But what they decide to do with VOG weapons speaks to the future of the current raid weapons as well. Right now, there is an expiration date on my Fatebringer and that sucks, supremely, but now that same feeling isn't too far for my Black Hammer either. I'd like to carry these weapons with me as long as I am playing Destiny. Yeah, future weapons maybe better and I end up scraping these guns one day but I'd like to be able to decide for myself versus having no choice in the matter. Just my take on the situation".

"The problem lies within the way they have designed the upgrading system. They are going to have to re work how you upgrade weapons and armor. Yeah they could just update the VOC gear up to 32 and 331 but what happens when the House of Wolves comes out? Then they are going to have to update both Dark Below and VOC all over again the prevent them from being obsolete. They need to just make it were the players can choose the path they want to take. You choose what armor and weapons you want to upgrade to the highest rank. I mean make it a difficult task. I wouldn't mind the challenge and it would inspire players to be more creative with their characters rather than every single person wearing the same gear".

"Upgrading older legendary weapons could finally give a use for the Gunsmith beyond buying ammo and weapons at a low level. Not to mention it would help provide a larger variety of "good" weapons so that we would have more things to work towards. After all the various DLC's are done, just imagine how varied the weapon and armor selection would be. (Speaking of which, vendors should be able to upgrade armor as well.)"

This should be called the "I don't want to lose my crutch / Fatebringer petition

I have this discussion regularly with the players I game with. The gunsmith should be made more relevant, by enabling him to upgrade your weapons. Example; 20 weapon parts, 20 materials and 2000 glimmer to upgrade the Fatebringer to 331. OR; 10,000 glimmer to re roll a non raid legendary from 300 to 331. Additionally, there needs to be a lock function on armour and weapon items, to prevent accidental dismantling. Such as, 'hold X to lock/unlock weapon'

SO MUCH BUMP

This!

Something I keep bringing up is there is such s limited pool of weapons and armour that every class ends up the same. I'd like to have the VoG gear increased to the level cap, but maybe make each raid set more specific to each raid. So in normal play and crucible you can choose, but when it comes to the raid it's worth having the specific items Not sure that's the best idea, sure bungie and the community can come up with something better!

Word. Bungie, we -blam!-ing need this now. And don't do it with the stat reset shit. Just put a harder mode like everyone is asking. That will resolve EVERYTHING.
-
I agree

Patients, it's closer than you think.
-
Raids shouldn't be made irrelevant agreed. I was pissed when they made the tower gear better than the VOG raid gear.
-
Upgrading an old raid weapon should come with a disadvantage sadly. For example, once a legendary weapon is upgraded it is now considered and an exotic weapon, thus using up your exotic slot, but upping the dmg for pve

Have any of you played other MMO style games? This is actually extremely common in WoW, Final Fantasy, Guild Wars, etc.

i totally agree

signed weapons that you have to bust your a** are getting dlc nerf'd what bungie has done translates to: "congrats on your raid gun! here! it is now nerf'd but dont worry the guns you are going to get from the other raids will get nerf to until your fate bringer cant even kill level one dregs!" dont make our hard work bungie into nothing; it is insulting as it is not having a story or anything to barely hold on to."

Agreed. I love my vision of confluence which I finally got right before crota come out, and haven't bothered maxing it out as it's just gonna replaced with other raid weapons.

Allow a level to be selected like the weekly which drops corresponding weapons and armour. E. G lv26 vog drops 300 weapons & 30 armour like now, 30 drops at 313 and lv31 light, lv 32 inline with new level and weapon cap. Of course the bottom line is they want you to buy DLC. @SAM_LEGACY on Twitter States that they are "trying to encourage people to buy dlc" so I really don't think they'll put in a way to get beyond 30 and 300 legedaries in vog. They'll just increase the chances of the more sort after exotic weapons dropping at atheon. For example they just increased the chance of ice breaker dropping when atheon gets beaten by 7%, while decreasing the solo crota first chest by 2% because there's no skill in getting it. They'll make sure xur never sells IB, Gally etc so you have to raid for them still

Yes sir, the community needs this,or we end up with oblosete content over and over with each expansion.I remeber a lvl 31 Vog was promised before the first dlc was even out,no sign so far.A 323 Fatebringer would be fun even in House of wolves,300 and it stays in everyones vault as a relic of the past
