[You guys came up with so many great ideas. I really wish Bungie had a look at the comments here.]
Come on, Bungie, give us the freedom to choose whatever suits our style best and don't let those awesome weapons you've designed become obsolete. Actually, don't let the stunning Vault of Glass (best content in the game) be consumed by the darkness.
I believe that Raids and its weapons should always be the at level cap. More weapons to choose from, more content to play.
Weapons are mostly situational and mixing them is part of a successful strategy (it's fun too). Having more to choose from just add to the game.
Edit: I'm not suggesting to automatically turn them into 331 attack weapons. Just give us a way to upgrade them to the current attack cap. I bet you guys can implement it in a sensible way.
Why would we go against the idea of having more relevant weapons at our disposal? It's like saying "I'd rather have less weapons, less content". Let's not be passively attached to an old format. Destiny is something new with immense potential.

Some great comments Bungie should pay some attention to:

"But what they decide to do with VOG weapons speaks to the future of the current raid weapons as well. Right now, there is an expiration date on my Fatebringer and that sucks, supremely, but now that same feeling isn't too far for my Black Hammer either. I'd like to carry these weapons with me as long as I am playing Destiny. Yeah, future weapons maybe better and I end up scraping these guns one day but I'd like to be able to decide for myself versus having no choice in the matter. Just my take on the situation".

"The problem lies within the way they have designed the upgrading system. They are going to have to re work how you upgrade weapons and armor. Yeah they could just update the VOC gear up to 32 and 331 but what happens when the House of Wolves comes out? Then they are going to have to update both Dark Below and VOC all over again the prevent them from being obsolete. They need to just make it were the players can choose the path they want to take. You choose what armor and weapons you want to upgrade to the highest rank. I mean make it a difficult task. I wouldn't mind the challenge and it would inspire players to be more creative with their characters rather than every single person wearing the same gear".

"Upgrading older legendary weapons could finally give a use for the Gunsmith beyond buying ammo and weapons at a low level. Not to mention it would help provide a larger variety of "good" weapons so that we would have more things to work towards. After all the various DLC's are done, just imagine how varied the weapon and armor selection would be. (Speaking of which, vendors should be able to upgrade armor as well.)"

I think to prevent the VOG itself from becoming obsolete they should release an even harder mode like maybe a 32 raid when CE hard mode drops and the drop rate is increased so both the weapons and raid don't become obsolete id still like a mythoclast and fatebringer plus I feel like it's nice to have a complete set of raid armor and having multiple sets all at the same light level will promote some sort of diversity among guardians

I wish...

yes yes yes

Totally agree, I haven't actually done VoG myself and it's kind of annoying that it's pretty pointless for me to do it now. At the moment it's as if the raids are timed content and if you don't do them before the next expansion drops you'll probably never bother with them. The way I think it should work is that normal mode should remain the same with the same gear dropping and the hard mode should always scale to the current light level cap with any gear scaled to the current max (armour would have max light level and weapons max attack rating). That way you'll still have some content for new players working their way up for the first time, but you'll also increase the amount of content for endgame players.
-
Welcome to MmoRpg style gaming. Since this is your first ill explain it. The raid MIGHT have higher gear in the future if they scale it. Otherwise no.

100% agree all raid weapons should go up with the attack lvls , maybe armour

By the traveler sake bungie make this happen!
-
Bump.

Damn it can i put seven likes on this thread??? It's a total common sense alert!!!!!

I do think this could give older raids a purpose. Also like the upgrade path for each weapon. Make them acquire a certain number of kills of a certain type of enemy...Thought that would be right up Bungies alley (Grindfest).
-
100% agree even though I haven't ran the entire VOG. I started my raid career with crota and see no huge advantage of going into the vault. Now if all armor/weapons were the same value as crota then heck yeah?
-
Destinys lack of content made me really wonder, why they REPLACED content with exp1. They really should have considered making a straight endgame road. For example: The tower and strike gear readys you up for the normal vault. The normal vault brings you to the hard one and this to CE. The problem here's of course the dominant light level, which just prevents you from beeing able to beat something, if youre missing the third raid piece. I would suggest to make the lightlevels cosmetique and the gear per se more important. Thus, the gap between a 29 and 30 wouldn't be as important as the skill.

Edited by msqar: 1/7/2015 12:27:31 PMomfg what a couple of crying babies... you gotta wait for the new primary raid weapons, the Crota one... those are 331... stop FACKING CRYING and requesting everything to be done, IT DOESN'T MAKE ANY FACKING SENSE to have a 331 Vision of Confluence, 331 Fatebringer... those are NICE the way the are now... let them be. I would facking ban you if i were a community manager, you and all the faggets that likes this... what a bunch of retarded cu.nts.. Whenever Hard Mode is released, you just need to beat Crota's End on Hard, that's it. Oh you can't ? Pitty. OLD CONTENT, IS OLD CONTENT... and STILL, Vault of Glass' weapons are freaking powerful, you tell me you need a 331 Fatebringer? i will tell you what you need, a pair of new hands, coz you suck ass. Fatebringer is an excellent primary with its 300 DMG... I hate reading these posts from people requesting shit to make the game easier, facking casuals, do VoG, and if you don't want 300 DMG weapons, DONT run it, i enjoy all my VoG weapons, i got them all, and i use almost ALL of them... except for Black Hammer from CE. The rest, i use all VoG still basically (not including Exotics ofc) "Make VoG gear upgrade to 36 light" DA FACK IS THAT? HAHAHAHA, so for someone who hasn't played Destiny at all after the DLC, and being 30 too with all the VoG gear, he would be leveled up automatically to 32? are you guys smoking grass? VoG gear is good the way it is, TRASH... you always want to recycle the shit out of everything! what do you do in other games? you do this kind of shit on forums? like in Blizzard for World of Warcraft? "OH BLIZZARD, I WANT TO USE MY PVP 2HANDED SWORD WITH ILVL350 IN THE LAST EXPANSION, PLEASE UPGRADE THIS SWORD TO ILVL600, BECAUSE IS FAIR!" NO, NO, NO, FACK THAT.

You couldn't up previous raid gear to the level cap it would render the new raid useless. Now you could raise the previous raid/raids to the lvl right below the current cap. For example you get Crotas end raid gear which gets you to 32. Thus you should bump the VOG raid gear to get you to 31 that way the gear is still relevant and the new raid is too. Do this every time a new raid comes out basically making a ladder. Until destiny 2 drops.
-
Bump my fatebringer needs that damage increase!!!

Edited by SaQofNutZ: 1/7/2015 9:28:55 AMSo everyone wants this cause they like the guns and so forth. So instead of trying to get the caps raised why not try and get them to make the guns customizable to your play style. Instead of having chosen perks have mod slots. Then have the gunsmith sell the mods you wanna put in the guns. Make it so you have to use shard to buy mods. Then that way everyone can get the guns the way they want.
-
Or maybe we could make more options for gear. Everyone has nearly the same gear. At least make a few different kinds of raid gear, with same light, but different stats
-
Yes. If vendor weapons can be 331 then vog ones should be
-
-
I can see why they did it. They want people buying the DLC and using the new raid weapons. If they allowed everyone to upgrade the VoG weapons to 331, there would be no need to strive for the Crota weapons at all. I'm expecting (hoping) that when the next DLC comes out, VoG weapons will be upgraded to 331. New House of Wolves weapons will be higher attack so people have a reason to grind for them, but it'd be silly to leave the VoG weapons at 300 as there would be no reason to play through a major part of the game if they're 2 levels below.
-
I dont want the ones we have upgraded I want it to hand out higher attack ones...so we can get em again
-
-
A solution I can think of is add a higher level VOG. Then add a drop which allows you to upgrade a weapon or armor piece from the vault, this item could be taken to the gun smith along with a certain amount of glimmer and materials to bring them a little more inline with updates weapons.
-
I don't think that the weapons are obsolete at all, just not going to be best for the new raid. But they are totally usable for all strikes, crucible and patrol/missions The armor I do think they should at LEAST make up to the vendor standard if not provide a unique upgrade path like with eris weapons, but we'll see what happens, I'd be suprised if we even hear a reply.

The previous raid weapons are still viable I routinely use my VoC over other 331 alternatives. The best Warlock I know only uses the Fatebringer still. My girlfriend routinely runs content with her Atheon's Epilogue (although she is starting to switch to Eidolon Ally). The weapons are still viable and will continue to be so until around the 370 mark.
