[You guys came up with so many great ideas. I really wish Bungie had a look at the comments here.]
Come on, Bungie, give us the freedom to choose whatever suits our style best and don't let those awesome weapons you've designed become obsolete. Actually, don't let the stunning Vault of Glass (best content in the game) be consumed by the darkness.
I believe that Raids and its weapons should always be the at level cap. More weapons to choose from, more content to play.
Weapons are mostly situational and mixing them is part of a successful strategy (it's fun too). Having more to choose from just add to the game.
Edit: I'm not suggesting to automatically turn them into 331 attack weapons. Just give us a way to upgrade them to the current attack cap. I bet you guys can implement it in a sensible way.
Why would we go against the idea of having more relevant weapons at our disposal? It's like saying "I'd rather have less weapons, less content". Let's not be passively attached to an old format. Destiny is something new with immense potential.

Some great comments Bungie should pay some attention to:

"But what they decide to do with VOG weapons speaks to the future of the current raid weapons as well. Right now, there is an expiration date on my Fatebringer and that sucks, supremely, but now that same feeling isn't too far for my Black Hammer either. I'd like to carry these weapons with me as long as I am playing Destiny. Yeah, future weapons maybe better and I end up scraping these guns one day but I'd like to be able to decide for myself versus having no choice in the matter. Just my take on the situation".

"The problem lies within the way they have designed the upgrading system. They are going to have to re work how you upgrade weapons and armor. Yeah they could just update the VOC gear up to 32 and 331 but what happens when the House of Wolves comes out? Then they are going to have to update both Dark Below and VOC all over again the prevent them from being obsolete. They need to just make it were the players can choose the path they want to take. You choose what armor and weapons you want to upgrade to the highest rank. I mean make it a difficult task. I wouldn't mind the challenge and it would inspire players to be more creative with their characters rather than every single person wearing the same gear".

"Upgrading older legendary weapons could finally give a use for the Gunsmith beyond buying ammo and weapons at a low level. Not to mention it would help provide a larger variety of "good" weapons so that we would have more things to work towards. After all the various DLC's are done, just imagine how varied the weapon and armor selection would be. (Speaking of which, vendors should be able to upgrade armor as well.)"

This would be great. Or they could at least keep increasing the lvl of VoG so there will be higher lvl weapon drops.

Agreed! Signed!

Would love it. Probably won't happen. O well.
-
So basically, people want to use Fatebringer for the next ten years of Destiny? Sounds painfully dull.

Bungie flat out broke this game in regards to weapons, raids and gear. The story of this game is this: Work your ass off to get the weapons, gear and stats the way you want.....then watch it all disappear. Xur will allow you to upgrade Exotics, you work all week to upgrade it, then he sells the same thing with better stats. This stupid shit killed the game for me and is the reason why I hardly touch Destiny anymore. I do, however, hope Bungie can get their shit together, but I'm not gonna hold my breath. Making VOG obsolete after 3 months was about the stupidest thing they've done to date though, and if Crota suffers the same fate and we get the same Exotic upgrade mess again when HoW drops then all my faith in Bungie will disappear. I am holding out hope, but I'm really not excited about this game anymore.

Let me save everyone some time. Great idea Everyone wants it Bungie doesn't care /thread
-
Would love to see this. Afraid bungie is to lazy tho.
-
All they had to do to keep the raids relevant was to not mess with the tower vendors and make people have to do VOG to be high enough light level for CE. Boom, relevant.
-
That defeats the purpose of the new raid. It's cool I guess to poll things like this? But it's pointless. Goes against the whole basis of this type of game. Everything eventually is rendered obsolete. So you are better off accepting and getting used to it, or moving on. Because it will remain this way.
-
How about they dont reset things every 2 months for 3 new missions and 1 raid and a strike. Do it around 6 month time frame.
-
Both raids are fun and we should be aloud to use Atheon's Epilogue at level cap attack.
-
Raids are supposed to be divided into teirs. Each new one released give better rewards thant he previous. VoG should be left as is. What Bungie needs to change is how they implement the new raids. Your armor and weapons from the old raid should still be valuable in the new one, unlike what they did with the Crotas End implementation. Completely demolishing any armor and weapons from the previous tier is the problem not making the new weapons and armor better.

Edited by Yermo: 1/7/2015 1:56:16 PMAnd upgrade every single weapon over and over again? Come on guys, you're falling for gimmicks Bungie wants. When they release second DLC, what you think would it happen with Crota's weapons? So bored.
-
Old weapons are old. They will not and should not update vog weapons. Why do the new content if we can just use the old stuff?. You people need to find a new game and stop complaining. New content means new weapons and the old ones become obsolete.... just like every other game. Seems like some people have never played a game with dlc before.
-
They're not gonna upgrade old raid weapons.. lmao

I made a thread about Kabr & bounties to keep raid relevant. Could add weapon ideas like exotic bounties. http://www.bungie.net/en/Forum/Post/84250673/0/0

I think when the next DLC hits and the base level increases, higher level weapons will drop from the VoG. I have a feeling that older raid gear will always be one level cap raise below. It made no sense for VoG gear to match current gear cause they want to incetivise the new DLC. Let's see what happens when the bottom base rate rises.
-
They should implement a system where each subsequent raid that is released has a random material drop (such as the Crux of Crota) that allows you to upgrade previous raid weapons and armor.
-
Bungie Keeps saying they want Destiny to develop based on players feedback , but they just ignore feedback in the most important elements. VoG if completely irelevant right now if you can but better stuf from vendor then anything you can get there. That's one of the best things in Game and there is practicly no reward for doing it other then self satisfaction. I understand that VoG become much easier since level cup got rised, but would be really nice if i could wear my VoG raid gear and don't feel handicaped because of that. Pls. fix the VOG gear stats.

Bumpety bump bump bump

Why not make any raids, future and now, to have a harder difficulty exclusively for those with dlc and have another go to get weapons with the new damage? That seems fair to me and an easy fix. Those without dlc enjoy the raid for what it is and get the drops as they are now while those with dlc can acquire new upgraded weapons all over again. It's just an idea and I know it would be unfair but this game is moving forward and why bother keeping a game if you don't get interested in dlc especially when there is so much more to come?
-
This should only happen if VoG is made where everything is 32.
-
I'm down with 25 or more ascendant energies to upgrade eM
-
To the people disagreeing about this. The argument that the current weapons will make future ones then not worth the grind. I disagree, the force to collect all raid weapons is very strong.
