[You guys came up with so many great ideas. I really wish Bungie had a look at the comments here.]
Come on, Bungie, give us the freedom to choose whatever suits our style best and don't let those awesome weapons you've designed become obsolete. Actually, don't let the stunning Vault of Glass (best content in the game) be consumed by the darkness.
I believe that Raids and its weapons should always be the at level cap. More weapons to choose from, more content to play.
Weapons are mostly situational and mixing them is part of a successful strategy (it's fun too). Having more to choose from just add to the game.
Edit: I'm not suggesting to automatically turn them into 331 attack weapons. Just give us a way to upgrade them to the current attack cap. I bet you guys can implement it in a sensible way.
Why would we go against the idea of having more relevant weapons at our disposal? It's like saying "I'd rather have less weapons, less content". Let's not be passively attached to an old format. Destiny is something new with immense potential.

Some great comments Bungie should pay some attention to:

"But what they decide to do with VOG weapons speaks to the future of the current raid weapons as well. Right now, there is an expiration date on my Fatebringer and that sucks, supremely, but now that same feeling isn't too far for my Black Hammer either. I'd like to carry these weapons with me as long as I am playing Destiny. Yeah, future weapons maybe better and I end up scraping these guns one day but I'd like to be able to decide for myself versus having no choice in the matter. Just my take on the situation".

"The problem lies within the way they have designed the upgrading system. They are going to have to re work how you upgrade weapons and armor. Yeah they could just update the VOC gear up to 32 and 331 but what happens when the House of Wolves comes out? Then they are going to have to update both Dark Below and VOC all over again the prevent them from being obsolete. They need to just make it were the players can choose the path they want to take. You choose what armor and weapons you want to upgrade to the highest rank. I mean make it a difficult task. I wouldn't mind the challenge and it would inspire players to be more creative with their characters rather than every single person wearing the same gear".

"Upgrading older legendary weapons could finally give a use for the Gunsmith beyond buying ammo and weapons at a low level. Not to mention it would help provide a larger variety of "good" weapons so that we would have more things to work towards. After all the various DLC's are done, just imagine how varied the weapon and armor selection would be. (Speaking of which, vendors should be able to upgrade armor as well.)"

I completely I want my VOC 331 attack, atm I'm trying to find another good scout rifle with full auto and a damage type but there isn't anything until the hard raid comes out

Every raid and endgame content becomes old and outdated. Thats how a game keeps moving forward, the real problem is that vendor gear outclasses VoG now.

They need to do something. The reason I kept Doing the VOG is I wanted the fatebringer. Now it's still an effective weapon but by the time it gets to wolves it will be useless. So I was playing last week leveling up a few new weapons I got when I realized the my Red Hand IX 2.0 will meet the same fate. Then I realized the the armor and weapons from Crotas raid ( that's need that ridiculous energy and shards) would Be useless as well not long after I get them leveled. So what's the point of raiding over and over. So in short, without the weapons and gear from the raids meaning anymore than the legendarys I already have. What's the point? That's why I went from 2-4 hrs a day to 4-6 a week. I really enjoy the game but why reach 32 when I'll be a 33 the day House of Wolves comes out.

Bumping the -blam!- outta this. Just got fatebringer

I suggest making a new difficulty to the vault. Like 32 or 33, like crotas end hard raid. That will yield 331 damage and 36 light equipment. Other difficulties will still hold the 300 and 30 gear.
-
The only fair way to do this would be to: 1. Use the Gunsmith to reforge VoG weapons 2. The reforged weapons would require radiant energy to upgrade. 3. Limit the amount of re-rolls to once a week At least this way, you would have to do the new raid in order to acquire the radiant materials to upgrade the old raid weapons. So both raids would remain relevant.
-
The easiest solution IMO is, just have the newest upgrade mats from the current raid be required to upgrade previous raid's gear. Say, 10 Radiant Energies and 5K Glimmer to upgrade to the highest damage available, but only after it's upgraded fully at the 300 level, and then re-upgrading it would still need to be done back to 331 (Bungie loves dat grind). Another option is to treat them like exotic weapons are now. Hell, create a legendary shard for the trade in requirements. All sold through Xur. A few caveats: 1. DLC is required for any upgrades. 2. More vault space would need to happen (it already should be, obviously). 3. Only raid drops have the ability to be upgraded. A side note: If they would just add a modifier to VoG to increase the difficulty, similar to missions, then that would keep content relevant for the foreseeable future, while allowing the drops to have equal damage across the raids. Just make buying the most recent DLC a requirement for these harder modes.

The obly VoG gun I'd actually like to upgrade is found verdict
-
most guardians NO all guardians have fallen in love with the VOG weapons so it only makes sense to allow upgrades yes we also want other weapons but the VOG guns are what have helped us through.
-
Give the weaponsmith the ability to upgrade previous raid weapons to max. kthx.
-
-
No, no other game does this, you scrubs who are too lazy to play for new gear/have boners for the old stuff or dont want to buy the new content but want to be the same level are going to -blam!- up the balance of the game if this happens.
-
Hell yea, I agree. I've never gotten half of them but I still want to try for them and a 331 cap gives more incentive.
-
Fatebringer!!!
-
One word: Fatebringer !
-
Raising VoG weapons and gear would allow players without the DLC to make progress. We all know that means risking money to them
-
I think they should make a harder version of the raid. 31 or 32 and they have 'tokens' that are a drop from the bosses to upgrade them. It would add longevity to the raid.
-
i would love to see VoG weapons at 331! fatebringer and VoC are still some of the best weapons in the game even at a lower damage. i did VoG at least 3 times a week since week 2 of the game but i havent done it much since the DLC came out. also, the VoG raid is a much better raid than CE and i would love to see people keep going into it for the experience.
-
How about just remove Attack ratings, that way every gun is useful. Think of all the cool Rares you've had but can't use because of the Attack.
-
What if we could exchange, lets say 3 VoC, at the gunsmith for an upgraded one. It could also cost maybe 10 ascendant energy and/or some kind of synthesis (depending on the weapon type) and some glimmer. This way, if you want an upgraded VoC and only have one, it gives you a reason to grind the VoG. Just a thought. It would give the old raid AND the gunsmith purpose. Any thoughts? The same could be done with armor at the vanguards.
