[You guys came up with so many great ideas. I really wish Bungie had a look at the comments here.]
Come on, Bungie, give us the freedom to choose whatever suits our style best and don't let those awesome weapons you've designed become obsolete. Actually, don't let the stunning Vault of Glass (best content in the game) be consumed by the darkness.
I believe that Raids and its weapons should always be the at level cap. More weapons to choose from, more content to play.
Weapons are mostly situational and mixing them is part of a successful strategy (it's fun too). Having more to choose from just add to the game.
Edit: I'm not suggesting to automatically turn them into 331 attack weapons. Just give us a way to upgrade them to the current attack cap. I bet you guys can implement it in a sensible way.
Why would we go against the idea of having more relevant weapons at our disposal? It's like saying "I'd rather have less weapons, less content". Let's not be passively attached to an old format. Destiny is something new with immense potential.

Some great comments Bungie should pay some attention to:

"But what they decide to do with VOG weapons speaks to the future of the current raid weapons as well. Right now, there is an expiration date on my Fatebringer and that sucks, supremely, but now that same feeling isn't too far for my Black Hammer either. I'd like to carry these weapons with me as long as I am playing Destiny. Yeah, future weapons maybe better and I end up scraping these guns one day but I'd like to be able to decide for myself versus having no choice in the matter. Just my take on the situation".

"The problem lies within the way they have designed the upgrading system. They are going to have to re work how you upgrade weapons and armor. Yeah they could just update the VOC gear up to 32 and 331 but what happens when the House of Wolves comes out? Then they are going to have to update both Dark Below and VOC all over again the prevent them from being obsolete. They need to just make it were the players can choose the path they want to take. You choose what armor and weapons you want to upgrade to the highest rank. I mean make it a difficult task. I wouldn't mind the challenge and it would inspire players to be more creative with their characters rather than every single person wearing the same gear".

"Upgrading older legendary weapons could finally give a use for the Gunsmith beyond buying ammo and weapons at a low level. Not to mention it would help provide a larger variety of "good" weapons so that we would have more things to work towards. After all the various DLC's are done, just imagine how varied the weapon and armor selection would be. (Speaking of which, vendors should be able to upgrade armor as well.)"

Agree! BUMP +1

Edited by dumbminican: 1/7/2015 3:22:00 PMThey have the way to fix this already. Look at the new edolon ally. U need the crux of crota to upgrade it. Simply add a new vog Megahard mode. Bump enemy lvl to 31-32 and have Atheon drop a specific orb to upgrade the corresponding weapon and even armor piece (drop rate same as the vex mythoclast) and boom all done. U make vog relevant again and the corresponding loot Should be difficult to obtain imo. All prays lord rngeesus. Amen

To everyone saying that we're complaining, we're not. We are acknowledging a serious downfall in a game that is trying to last past first day sales. First thing I noticed when I first started playing this game was the lack customization and upgrade options available. For an mmo or rpg style game that is a serious downfall. It wouldn't hurt to give the option to do so, would it? It would only make it better. The first couple of weeks playing I was so excited to see all the different gear people had equipped only to find out that everyone basically has the same thing on as the last guy. We're not complaining. Bungie, take notice. Literally, if you fix your upgrading system and fix the lack of customization while hammering out raids that are as good as the VOG, I will play until there is no one left to play with. Sup

As much as this would be awesome they've already given up in VOG though it's easily the best content the game has. Far far more enjoyable then the broken dark below which every single section can be cheesed in some way. Bungie seems to be only interested in moving forward to the next nugget they can make millions on more than tightening up the of stuff they already have.

Lots of people (including me) were upset with the fact that you could buy armor from the vanguard and achieve light level 31 and jump over light level 30 thus making the VoG armor a waste of time. I propose instead of repeating the same thing with the next level cap bump why don't the vanguard sell higher light level armor to us, but have it cost VoG raid armor and commendations instead of just vanguard marks and commendations. At least that would honor those of us who have obtained the VoG armor. It would also keep the older content in the game. We all know how easy Atheon is at level 31 and 32. Its not much of a chore to run through the original raid anymore. I'm not sure how I feel about the weapons though. I don't like the fact that if they were to raise the VoG weapons to 331 all we would see is Fatebringer and VoC everywhere again.

Edited by Reklis Abandon: 1/7/2015 4:19:04 PMHonestly, this is a good idea. All they need to do is treat them like exotic weapons where you trade in your old plus a new raid weapon and glimmer in order to upgrade to a new version and start from scratch to re-level it. The problem with just allowing you to upgrade the old weapons is because of progression gates. They're annoying but they're a vital process for the MMO genre (which you can make an argument either way on for Destiny). If players immediately hit the new level cap right after the DLC hit it would cause a lot of people to quit prematurely. So upgrading your old legendaries should neither be easy or cheap. The exotic upgrade process was done well I think.

Up vote. Purely for V.O.C. Justice needed for that beautiful scout rifle.

I bet bungie gets a good laugh from this
-
Drop an item "fragment of the vault" an use that to upgrade with the gunsmith .
-
At least 323 like the vex
-
This wouldn't even be a problem if you couldn't vault armor and you couldn't buy the 33 light gear

Nope, I hear that fatebringer is the best gun to do the new raid with, so those weapons are not obsolete. People are still using their Epilogue and corrective measure on void burn Nightfalls and their voc on solar. I'm still using my vanquisher 8 at 300. I don't agree with this petition, but I hope you get a response.

Edited by ThisMahSwamp: 1/7/2015 4:10:53 PMA combination of thoughts I have heard: > Only VoG weapons and armor can be upgraded > Defeating Atheon on Hard Mode will drop 1 (one) material used to upgrade an existing 300 VoG weapon to 331 or a piece of VoG armor to light level 31. Similar Proposal for Vanguard/Faction weapons: > Requires Rank 5 of said Faction > Requires 1 Commendation associated with said faction > Requires (insert said amount of Glimmer)
-
You do know raids go by tiers ? The VOG is for lvl 26's-30's , crota is for 29's- 32's.People who do the VOG shouldn't deserve to get same damage weapons as people who beat Crota, just my opinion
-
Just upgrade each raid, whenever DLC drops, to have a level cap version and have the boss potentially drop an upgrade material to upgrade weapons from that raid to the level cap weapons.
-
Easy solution, the raid continues to drop what it does, but add VOG level 30 and 32 to drop higher level VOG GEAR. When HOW comes out, add higher levels again and also add bumps to Crotas End. Think of it, by the end of the year we could have 5 or six relavant raids to play, and there would still be scaled raids for newer players working their way up
-
I think that if Bungie added an even harder mode (level 30-32) this would work perfectly. Have the mobs be at level 33-34 with no revives.
