[You guys came up with so many great ideas. I really wish Bungie had a look at the comments here.]
Come on, Bungie, give us the freedom to choose whatever suits our style best and don't let those awesome weapons you've designed become obsolete. Actually, don't let the stunning Vault of Glass (best content in the game) be consumed by the darkness.
I believe that Raids and its weapons should always be the at level cap. More weapons to choose from, more content to play.
Weapons are mostly situational and mixing them is part of a successful strategy (it's fun too). Having more to choose from just add to the game.
Edit: I'm not suggesting to automatically turn them into 331 attack weapons. Just give us a way to upgrade them to the current attack cap. I bet you guys can implement it in a sensible way.
Why would we go against the idea of having more relevant weapons at our disposal? It's like saying "I'd rather have less weapons, less content". Let's not be passively attached to an old format. Destiny is something new with immense potential.

Some great comments Bungie should pay some attention to:

"But what they decide to do with VOG weapons speaks to the future of the current raid weapons as well. Right now, there is an expiration date on my Fatebringer and that sucks, supremely, but now that same feeling isn't too far for my Black Hammer either. I'd like to carry these weapons with me as long as I am playing Destiny. Yeah, future weapons maybe better and I end up scraping these guns one day but I'd like to be able to decide for myself versus having no choice in the matter. Just my take on the situation".

"The problem lies within the way they have designed the upgrading system. They are going to have to re work how you upgrade weapons and armor. Yeah they could just update the VOC gear up to 32 and 331 but what happens when the House of Wolves comes out? Then they are going to have to update both Dark Below and VOC all over again the prevent them from being obsolete. They need to just make it were the players can choose the path they want to take. You choose what armor and weapons you want to upgrade to the highest rank. I mean make it a difficult task. I wouldn't mind the challenge and it would inspire players to be more creative with their characters rather than every single person wearing the same gear".

"Upgrading older legendary weapons could finally give a use for the Gunsmith beyond buying ammo and weapons at a low level. Not to mention it would help provide a larger variety of "good" weapons so that we would have more things to work towards. After all the various DLC's are done, just imagine how varied the weapon and armor selection would be. (Speaking of which, vendors should be able to upgrade armor as well.)"

easy solution: make VOG drop a weapon upgrade crystal, apply to weapon from xur and get your upgraded version, Problem solved

I agree they have should put all old raid armour and weapons up to 36 light and 331 damage respectively but to make it interesting you should have to get the upgraded versions through drops in the raid again and not be able to upgrade your old version. What's the point in increasing the level cap if you'll automatically have the armour to reach it from using old raid armour! In making the old stuff non upgradeable you keep the grind trying to get to 32.

Edited by Kovathos: 1/8/2015 7:34:28 AMWelcome to games with increasing level caps. Gear gets outdated. Though I'd like to point out that so long as the daily, weekly or nightfall, or really any mission for that matter that isn't Croata's does not go above lvl 30 VoG gear is still relevant. You get no bonus for being over level of your enemies for either your character level or your weapons attack. So when you go on a vex mission you got the raid armour to help you. The exception I could agree to for this is any exotic equipment that a player gets. From the raid. (Not legendaries, sorry guys)

It's a MMO, New expansion comes out and old content is irreverent. Lookt WoW for example, it's in a lot if not every MMO.
-
Why dont we just have all the vog armor hit lvl 32, shut the -blam!- up dumb -blam!-
-
This threads are awesome from seeing the MMO noobs in action, people that don't understand there is a reason to release new content, if they upgraded VoG, then what's the point of CE then, the idea is to get harder content with every DLC, not upgrade the old one, if you did then what's the point of doing new content anyway if you still go back to VoG over and over again, specially since you have ways to upgrade the VoG drops now, so unless you already got a specific piece of gear, leave VoG for the new players and keep moving forward to the new content.

I have a new quest for fatebringer, hope it gets upgraded

cool how its at 1111 upvotes be a real dick move to change that.....
-
i just want my fatebringer 331 and ill be done forever goodbye
-
Edited by stealthkiller22: 1/8/2015 6:35:53 AMmaybe they should only choose 2 pieces of raid gear to get to plus 36 light from vog if they increase difficulty
-
They're perfect the way they are now stop bitching seriously
-
My One and only post is exactly about this subject. Two of my favorite weapons are from the vault of glass. I'd like to see that they're not left behind. Bump indeed.
-
So if VoG weapons get 331 what would the vex v2 get?
-
So hey, hope people read this although wouldn't be surprised if no one seen it. If you actually check the raid weapons out, the VoG weapons are still very powerful. The FateBringer is still the most powerful hand cannon. The Found Verdict is more powerful than the new Raid shotgun. The VoG sniper was always shit and the black hammer is probably the best in the game now, but the Icebreaker always beat the VoG sniper anyways.

With the current system they have for upgrades I think it would be better to make raid-exclusive weapons and gear upgradeable to the new cap until the next big expansion (this case...the Comet expansion) just so we can have a lot of time to enjoy the weapons and gear we worked hard to obtain before we need to grind for newer, better equipment. If they do have a 10-year plan for Destiny then chances are we could receive more big expansions and between them time to enjoy our equipment. That being said, the upgrade system could benefit greatly with a change. I think JoshLags' idea is very nice. We could, for example, either do certain quests to allow the gunsmith to upgrade our weapons or we could use upgrade materials to purchase parts needed for an upgrade. I think the whole franchise could benefit.
-
Well I certainly hope they implement a path to upgrade VOG weapons and gear but I know they won't do it right away or else people will have minimal incentive to even complete CE. Especially since the CE primaries aren't even available till hard mode drops. I could see (hope anyway) them implement an upgrade system sometime after hard mode drops and before house of wolves is released just to add the variety.

VOG is still the funnest thing to do in this game, Bungie obviously spent way more time thinking out the VOG than CE. You guys need to see that the VOG and the guns from the VOG are amazing, better than the CE weapons as well. I would love to see the lvl 32 VOG way before a lvl 32 CE
-
Not irrelevant. Gives you shards and energy for legendaries. CE will be pointless though

Re-signed

Should put #whyucryin

Just give us new versions of the raids everyone they come out. They're should be a level 32 VoG with 331 weapons.
-
Raid and exotics should always be buffed. That way we can stay at max and go back and re use proper raid gear for the specific raid. Just my opinion
-
Personally, i do not think that you should be able to upgrade them at a certain vendor or anything like that. What i do think would be better, add an additional level to VoG. Do you would have the normal, hard, then very hard(not sure on namr lol) that would give upgraded versions of the weapons and armor. And for future DLC theu can attach another level to it.
