[You guys came up with so many great ideas. I really wish Bungie had a look at the comments here.]
Come on, Bungie, give us the freedom to choose whatever suits our style best and don't let those awesome weapons you've designed become obsolete. Actually, don't let the stunning Vault of Glass (best content in the game) be consumed by the darkness.
I believe that Raids and its weapons should always be the at level cap. More weapons to choose from, more content to play.
Weapons are mostly situational and mixing them is part of a successful strategy (it's fun too). Having more to choose from just add to the game.
Edit: I'm not suggesting to automatically turn them into 331 attack weapons. Just give us a way to upgrade them to the current attack cap. I bet you guys can implement it in a sensible way.
Why would we go against the idea of having more relevant weapons at our disposal? It's like saying "I'd rather have less weapons, less content". Let's not be passively attached to an old format. Destiny is something new with immense potential.

Some great comments Bungie should pay some attention to:

"But what they decide to do with VOG weapons speaks to the future of the current raid weapons as well. Right now, there is an expiration date on my Fatebringer and that sucks, supremely, but now that same feeling isn't too far for my Black Hammer either. I'd like to carry these weapons with me as long as I am playing Destiny. Yeah, future weapons maybe better and I end up scraping these guns one day but I'd like to be able to decide for myself versus having no choice in the matter. Just my take on the situation".

"The problem lies within the way they have designed the upgrading system. They are going to have to re work how you upgrade weapons and armor. Yeah they could just update the VOC gear up to 32 and 331 but what happens when the House of Wolves comes out? Then they are going to have to update both Dark Below and VOC all over again the prevent them from being obsolete. They need to just make it were the players can choose the path they want to take. You choose what armor and weapons you want to upgrade to the highest rank. I mean make it a difficult task. I wouldn't mind the challenge and it would inspire players to be more creative with their characters rather than every single person wearing the same gear".

"Upgrading older legendary weapons could finally give a use for the Gunsmith beyond buying ammo and weapons at a low level. Not to mention it would help provide a larger variety of "good" weapons so that we would have more things to work towards. After all the various DLC's are done, just imagine how varied the weapon and armor selection would be. (Speaking of which, vendors should be able to upgrade armor as well.)"

Makes me not even want to do vog anymore. It sucks... I love that raid. But it is pointless. Why would i want to go do all that for a lvl 300 weapon or my 10th vex. Or 300 gjally that xur will never have to upgrade again. They -blam!-ed up doing that. At least exotics that drop should be 331.

if bungie reads this... take note The way it would make sense would be to update old raid to be relevant with current content. but NOT current raids. for example. VOG is currently level 30 gear with 300 attack weapons. this is still relevant to all content (nightfall/strikes/etc) other than current raid which is 32 gear and 331 attack. i suppose there is a damage penalty to using 300 weapons against an enemy higher than 30. but this is ok. It puts emphasis on current content (raid) Now.... when house of wolves comes out i'm assuming nighfalls go to level 32/33 and raid is level 34/35? the VOG gear should be released 32/33 and weapons can drop at 331. I also think you should have to re-earn the weapons and gear through drops on the VOG. Crotas end would remain the same until the next DLC/raid after house of wolves. how reasonable is this?

I agree, I just made a post about this. VoG should receive a new higher difficulty that drops higher level Fatebringers.

Edited by CllSgnCalliope: 1/8/2015 12:43:49 PMFavorited, agreed, signed and bumped. I'm someone who purchased the expansion pass and find this and other issues to be massively unfair to the other veteran players out there. To be kept from reaching a higher level without having a different path for those who don't have the DLC.... To turn weapons and armor that were hard earned and deserved into something obsolete.... To lock out the nightfall, weekly and sometimes the daily for those who don't have the DLC.... without options for them to take.... It's utterly wrong. It comes across as a slap to the dedicated players of this game, and a game that was honestly incomplete to begin with. Beautiful package with nothing inside (i.e. huge lack of story and motivation). And many still play, still they are loyal. But that loyalty will not continue if Bungie and Activision continue down this awful path of cashing in on players' desires to get ahead in this game. Fix it, please. If you care about your player base, take a step in the right direction. Signed, A player concerned for Destiny's future. #destiny #Bungie #Activision #Expansion

Maybe it's been said, but wouldn't it be great if they just added another difficulty mode on VOG and when House Of Wolves comes another difficulty so it matches the latest, that way the new drops of the weapons on each raid will be still very useful, or a bounty/quest when you finish the raid on said new difficulty you may upgrade it. Right now I'm almost fully CE raid geared and almost 32 with 3 different characters/classes (just need some more shards and chest for titan) then I won't bother playing it anymore since I'll just wait for Hard mode and House of Wolves will be released right about time I get everything and the cycle continues... At this rate, everyone will look the same always and I won't feel like my own legendary guardian. This game has huge potential, I'm still playing since day 1 and still loving it, but it feels like a smack on the butt to just receive everything just in time, then I need to grind another round and going on forever to newer stuff... Shame. TLDR - Make VOG and upcoming raids different difficulty so the gear and weapons match with newer releases.

One thing I could see them doing to make vog relevant is make the drop pools offer 331 attack weapons. You can still obtain faction weapons with 331 attack, but not able to upgrade them from 300 to 331 with what you previously owned. If anything u could see them offering higher attack legendary gear but only offering them from a possible higher difficulty vog. Either way considering the current method of upgrading exotics and the fact that they do not offer to upgrade any legendary gear, I'm sure they didn't intend on offering upgraded versions. In my personal opinion they should not have sold 31 and up armor and weapons it should have been earned from the vault, and each expansion should offer the next logical step in upgrades.

Bump.

Yes, upgrade my weapons to 331, so I don't have to get in the new content to get better gear. That makes sense. Go ask your mom to give it to you, she's obviously just spoon fed everything else to you

Add this to their page on FB and I would say reddit. So we can have a game we like not what they think is good lol we pay for it right

Edited by nZaniTea: 1/8/2015 11:09:53 AMI have a brilliant idea! The way bungie can implement raid weapons to the current cap "being what is now and in the foreseeable future" is to create very rare item, like a exotic shard on steroids that allows you to upgrade any weapon of your choice to the current cap. This would create a balance for bungie. It would make the community feel at least a little less cheated while still allowing bungie to fill their needs by upgrading the cap for weapons so you will buy the dlc.
