2.0.1 Update! - some new pics
I decided to make the 2.0 version out of much heavier steel. The 1/4" thick 1.0 version just seemed too lightweight compared to the images and specs for the in game weapon. So... I went for a full 3/8" thick plate steel to start with.
I am VERY happy with the look at feel of the thicker knife. It has a greater presence in person and when you hand it to someone they say... holy crap! It weighs 2lbs 5oz... a monster. While it is just a prop and the edge is not sharp, I hesitate to consider the damage this thing would do. I suspect a strong arm could put it right through a car door.
Next I need to make a cool display stand for it.

What do you think of the 2.0 version?
Added 2/12/15 - Shadowboxed Knife for my lil bro - http://s15.postimg.org/95ypaqf2j/SHADOWBOX.jpg
So I had decided I was going to make a Hunter's Knife.
No, not plastic, resin or MDF...
Steel...
I went with 1/4" Cold Rolled Steel but I think I want to go 5/16. Its a little over 16" long. I scaled it back a tiny bit but it is still HUGE. The actual specs look like 7/16 but that is INSANE.
Hole in the blade and the last one in the handle are a bit too big and I am still tinkering with finish ideas. I kinda rushed it out of the shop as it was getting cold and late. Icon is a water transfer decal with matte clear over it.
It weighs in a 1LB 9oz and actually feels great in the hand. It would do some serious damage and break some bones as a fighting knife and you certainly would not want someone to throw it at you. :P

I'll give you 2 bucks and a pack of gum for it... It's 5-layer gum! But nicely done Guardian, it looks sick.
-
Got them dimensions laying around?
-
Tight butthole! Need dat mate. Good work. I always thought it should steel instead of resin too.
-
Machinist Unite!. What did u make it on?
-
Im not gonna question your ability if you made it or not but this stuff can be bought if you look around the net guys https://www.etsy.com/uk/listing/199376386/destiny-hunters-knife-finished?
-
How do they throw, looks like it would be like throwing a tomahawk with it being top heavy. That baby would pack quite the punch. I a smith myself, I hope to be creating a knife this awesome one day. Good job brother!
-
Finally someone making something from destiny for real. the other post about the last word and thorn replicas, my reaction was man it's not a working model, not even made from the right material. It would be nice to at least have some heft to them.
-
1075 carbon steel hard to sharpen but will hold an edge, extremely durable.
-
I so wish I had access to what you have :/ I tried making an aluminum one at work but don't have time in the shop off of work to use the tools. Great job though! It looks like it's be so fun to make.
-
How did you make the edge? Seems a little rounded?
-
I'd get one after you get all your adjustments and fine tuning done. You could easily sell them via Etsy.
-
That's really cool. Finishing my 3d printed version once my toolkit arrives!
-
This is awesome. Great job man. I want to level up my hunter after this. What would be cool is a video of how you did it and the effort you put into it. I love those kinds of videos of othere people's projects. Again, great job.

Edited by SomeWhiteDude: 1/6/2015 5:47:04 PMYou magnificent bastard! Well done sir, it looks -blam!-ing kick ass!
-
I want one, i could pay up to 40-60$ for one
-
Damn bro, that's awesome.
-
Now turn it into an arcblade
-
Amazing work man.
-
How long did you have to grind to get that?
-
You sick bastard! It's a work of art. I bet if you set up a web site and start making them for sale, you will be so busy you'll never play destiny again...
-
Are you going to cut cheese, or Dregs with that?
It's great btw.
-
Legitimate question. How much would you charge for that? As a collector's item or such?
-
This makes me horny
-
now you can do a crocodile Dundee. "you call that a knife? *pulls out Hunter Blade* "THIS is a Knife!"
-
You ever wonder why they have a seat belt cutter on them?
-
How much ?
