Seven years... It's crazy how times flies. It feels like just yesterday I created my first Bnet account back in '04. A few accounts later, I decided to stick with this one. ;)
Brace yourself in case you encounter some slight nostalgia.
It all started in 2001 when I played a demo of Halo: CE at a friend's house. As soon as I played The Silent Cartographer demo, I was instantly hooked. I was given a copy of Halo: CE with my new Xbox that Christmas, and that was that. A few years later, I stumbled upon Bungie.net. Any other veterans remember when it used to look like this? After forgetting my credentials and making a bunch of accounts, I eventually landed with this account in '07. Those of you who know me may remember that I was originally DTA MoonDawg. The DTA prefix was part of my silly clan phase that I quickly grew out of. Until Bungie.next, however, I was stuck with it. :P
During the Halo era, I really enjoyed making machinimas. Most of them never saw the light of day, but the ones I did release like the Teammates of Genius series and Pokalo: Pocket Spartans were incredibly fun yet challenging to create.
Back in the day, I was heavily involved with a group called Facility B5D. This was a Halo 3 group designated for people with the famous Recon armor. I originally joined because (like everyone else at the time) I was curious on how to unlock the mystical armor set. I eventually ranked up to an Administrator in the group and made many friends along the way. We even did some awesome shit like our Hope Unto Dawn Halo 3 Charity Tournament. Out of all of my years of gaming, that was one of my fondest moments. All of the attention circulating with the tournament prompted urk to give me an Average Joe interview. I am purposely not linking it because it was damn embarrassing, and I don't want it to resurface. If you want to look it up yourself, please note that I was in my high school "t-bag phase" when I wrote that. ;)
Like all things, however, Facility B5D eventually died down, and most of us went our separate ways. For a time, I didn't have a place to call home in the community. Then one day as I randomly scoured #Support to find some lost souls to assist, I got a PM. This message invited me to join a group known as "The Welcoming Committee." I had heard of the group before, but I had no idea what it would become. I am still humbled to this day that I was chosen for such an awesome position, and I try to reflect that in each and every post I make on this website. Mentors rule, Ninjas drool!
In addition to TWC, I also play with my buddies in Rogue Squadron led by the infamous Halcylon. Red 6, reporting for duty!
We like Star Wars. Can you tell?
That brings us to today. Still enjoying Destiny thus far and can't wait to see how it will evolve over the coming years. Here's to another seven years!

Edited by Deleted User: 2/15/2015 2:48:46 PMTrue underdog looks like hes 16. Lol. And congrats.
-
Congrats! Hoping future-me never decides to forget about this place. I've only been active for a little over a year and I've already made tons of friends here.
-
Congrats man! I'd bet most people on this site are Star Wars fans in some way shape or form given the scifi themes of the majority of Bungie's games. (inb4 it's a Space Opera) I know I'm one of them. :)
-
I'm late, but whatever, your 7th only comes once--enjoy the blue and continue your legacy.
-
Congrats on your landmark, though less active I've enjoyed a long interaction with the Bungie community being my gaming home as well, great to know the ancients are still around
-
Umm, haha...ahahahaha.... " Q. My mom is a classy lady. Don't be coming up in here impugning her reputation and whatnot. Keep your ass in your pants, please, and just tell us where you hang out when you drop by." I'm sure you'll understand why but....
This gem of an interview?
Will this make you nostalgic?
-
Eh, this account turns 5 this year. Add a little over a year of lurking on this site and I've been here a pretty long time.
-
I'm jelly. Not just of being a mentor but of having such a legacy with the community. Man i'd give an arm and a leg to be where you are today
-
Awesome. I'm nearing 5. Time DOES fly.
-
Congrats! Cant believe it's been 7 years for me as well.
-
So where do I find these "mentors"? This is maybe the second time I've ever heard mention of mentors and ninjas but have never actually seen them in these forums or even heard of anyone being helped/"mentored".. Is it just like yelp where a bunch of no lifers sit on the forums all day and jock the company and receive next to nothing in return? Or are you actual employees?
-
What's a mentor, and a ninja?
-
I agree with you 100% and i hope you find love.
-
I also love Star Wars
-
BEGINNING TRANSMISSION: (Low melodious hum.) Maybe I can go drinking next time and congratulations for seven years. ENDING TRANSMISSION:
-
Congrats Man! Happy 7!
-
That's quite the legacy. Man, things have changed.
-
I wish Bungie people would respond to serious community concerns as well as their members' posts, but anyways... I love Bungie, and I have been a huge fan of your games since I played CE on the original xbox (that grass on the halo still looks amazing btw). Reading your post was amusing and reminded me of so much that I had forgotten existed.
-
At least you started out well.
-
Happy 7 years to ya! And cheers to 7 more to follow. By the way, would those happen to be shots of tequila?
