Went to Xur to upgrade my Armamentarium chest armor and all my stats went to the beginning. WTF? I'm a casual gamer (a little over 50 hours played) and must have missed the warning from Xur that I didn't need to upgrade my armor since I bought it after The Dark Below was released. No warning? then there should be... I was almost levelled up all the way and now I have to start over - -blam!-!!!
-
It could be worse. I knew all about the perk reset when upgrading exotics, problem is I wasn't exactly sure how to upgrade. Took my 'The Last Word' to Xur, saw that he sold the upgraded version, all I needed was 7000 glimmer and an exotic Shard, problem is my TLW wasn't fully upgraded. I spent my last 7 strange coins on the shard and instead of trading my TLW and the shard into Xur for the upgraded version I used the shard on my TLW to max out the last upgrade slot. So now I've spent 7000 glimmer and 7 strange coins with Xur and I'm still stuck with 'The Last Word' with a max attack of 300. I wish I knew then what I know now.
-
Then you should have looked at the stats. If you bought it after Dark Below then it would have been the same.
-
lol just remember if its not in the top row its to upgrade. and all gear u get since dlc launch is already 2.0
-
Not all the stats, if you had a not fully upgraded exotic armor at say 27 light, by upgrading you start at 30. All the perks have to be re-leveled but that's easier with exotics anyway since you don't need 18 shards. So be happy, your light level didnt drop. This is why I'm not bothering to do the last node on MIDA, whenever he offers the upgrade again I will get a boost to 300+ at the time of purchase. I guess I missed the MIDA upgrade at some point in the past?

That's sucks! Better than accidentally deleting it though!!!

Don't beat yourself up, we all make mistakes. Thanks for helping to educate others by sharing your experience. Keep on grinding guardian!
-
Hahaha I did the same thing. What's worse is I knew I didn't have to. I've also dismantled an engram I bought from Xur after not playing for a while. It would be helpful if the upgrades were greyed out when they're not necessary.
-
Yea but its easier to upgrade Exotics since the change. My Third Man helm was fully upgraded in a few days.
-
For how set up this game is for casuals, it's missing big parts that would be helpful for casuals.
-
If you received the Armamentarium prior to the release of The Dark Below, it has a maximum effective light level around 30. By trading it in, you've now got one with a max effective level of 32 (...or 36 light). If you traded in a post-DLC Armamentarium, you've now got one with the stat rating Xur is offering this week for rerolls. This may be an improvement, or it may not.

Edited by Starlight: 1/3/2015 7:07:10 PMYeah, you only need to upgrade an exotic at Xur if a weapon's maximum damage is 300, or if an armor's maximum Light is 30. If the weapon's damage is 331 or armor's Light is 36, then it's already 2.0 version. Upgrading at Xur merely changes a 300 version to a 331 version, or a 30 Light armor to a 36 Light version.
-
No if you upgrade it, everything resets like you got a brand new piece of armor.
-
You only need to upgrade 1.0 armor...
-
So let me get this straight, it already had 36 in light stats? You... Upgraded an armor piece that wasn't in need of upgrade? Aaaaand you think it's the games fault that you neglected to check this prior to upgrading? I've made mistakes similar to this, in other games... But I'm gonna tell you this right now: Bungie won't refund you, and they will most likely not change the way Xûr is currently operating.
-
Hahahah. Pay attention to what you're doing.
-
You aren't starting over the light level has a new maximum. It's just you have to re level no big deal it'll be better after completion.
-
Even a casual gamer needs to have some idea of what's going on and just like in real life, there needs to be some responsibility on the consumer. You need to be an educated consumer every where. I don't think having a warning would be a bad idea, but really, just check the stats before doing it, or know when the DLC comes out and when you got something. It's not that big of a deal, won't take long to upgrade sorry to hear though
-
Let's look at the stats before we upgrade this........ Oh look....... Its really not worth it for 1 more discipline. Maybe I shouldn't do that.....
-
Well... If there are more people like you, there will propably be a warning in the future. ;) But seriously, it is a bit faulty that the upgrade icon remains open, like it is when you meet the req's for upgrading, even when the piece is upgraded to dlc standard.
-
You mean you upgraded an already 36 light level version? That sucks man, I noticed last week that it would let you do that, I remember thinking to myself that they should prevent you from being able to. You should be able to get the perks back fairly quickly by picking up some bounties and running some roc strikes or doing crucible.
-
I still dont get why when you attempt to upgrade a post dlc peice of gear a little message cant pop up like "bruh, you don't gotta do dat shit," and just not let you.
-
There have been a lot of these posts lately.
-
You did not look at the stats and see the light was the same?
-
That sucks man. Hit the bounties and level it back up.
-
Friend just did that
-
Upgrading gear at xur will reset all perks of said gear but for armor it will start at 30 light and max out at 36. Weapons will go from 300 damage to 302 and max out at 331.
