WHY?
GOOD QUESTION. Obviously a contract was made between Sony and Bungie to guarantee exclusives for playstation, BUT. The question is, WHY. Clearly, Sony paid some cash for that, in hopes it would sway a many a folk to buy a playstation, to have the "superior" destiny console. What I don't understand is that, WHY, did Microsoft not make this deal. Now let's get something straight, Microsoft is SO F*CKING RICH, the second wealthiest company in the world (behind apple), Bill Gates who helped to found it, is so f*cking rich, he alone could buy out sony, bend it over a barrel and ride that f*cker into the ground, and he would still be one of the richest men in the world, no sweat. SO, Just imagine how much cash the entire company has. It seems Microsoft could have easily made that contract right? But there's more to it, now I'm not sure about what happened exactly. No one knows if Microsoft just didn't see the opportunity as feasible or outright decided, F*ck you Bungie, for even considering another console as your exclusive outlet. And the latter makes more sense to me, because listen up. Obviously Halo was an outstanding franchise that "defined a generation" and popularized first person shooters, made them mainstream. But did you ever think to realize who made Bungie!!!?, F*cking MICROSOFT MADE BUNGIE WHO THEY ARE TODAY, without Microsoft taking a leap, signing Bungie in to the squad and taking them under their wing, guiding them to greatness, you likely wouldn't know what the f*ck I was talking about when I said Bungie, you'd probably think I was some weird assmotherf*cker talking about trampolines or some sh*t. Bungie owes EVERYTHING to Microsoft. So it begs the question, WHY, WHY did Bungie choose Sony over Microsoft, over the company that nurtured and cared for their frightened newborn baby of a company in Bungie? I DONT KNOW. But it pisses me the f*ck off and poses as a monumental curiosity in my eyes! Thank you for your time.

The Great Wall of Words.

Welcome to the party, you're only 3 months late.
-
Cause Microsoft already has a deal with Activision for Xbox exclusives, it called COD. Bungie has nothing to do with this. It is Activision's deal with Sony
-
Tl;dr wall of text, but just as an FYI, it's MicroSoft who owe everything to Bungie for locking the Halo series to their console and being the prime reason it moved units (it was originally announced as a multi-platform pc/Mac game). Also trust me when I say, lots of us know who bungie was way before Halo, but welcome to the club. Glad to know when you decided to join us.

Bad blood between Bungie and M$
-
The only thing that matters. The Money
-
As an Xbox player I fully support Bungie's decision to give exclusives to Sony. Bungie already had a dedicated fanbase consisting exclusively of Xbox players. Of course they want to make the Playstation users feel loved.

Wow.... Much ignorance Such dumb

If you're wondering why there may be hostilities between Microsoft and Bungie, then clearly you know nothing of the history between the two. There was a lot of tension between the two companies over the course of the production of the Halo franchise. You could easily find a couple videos on youtube that explain the struggle over development of Halo 2. I'm sure it only got worse as the original trilogy concluded and Microsoft wanted to make more. So when Bungie found a way out by splitting the company and giving up their franchise, they were probably in dire need of funding to make a new game, and probably the last thing they wanted to do is come crawling back to Microsoft. Also, I think it's likely Microsoft wouldn't want to support their next project anyways since Bungie found a way out of their corporate noose. So Playstation says hey we'll give a substantial amount of money to fund development as long as we get exclusives. And here we are now.

Edited by Senty: 1/3/2015 7:43:33 PMBecause bungie didn't want to make a deal with them because they made Halo for Microsoft and it was really popular and they wanted to reach out to other gamers on different consoles.
-
Ummm, I would bet money that Bungie didnt make the deal so much as it was a marketing strategy put in place between Activision and Sony. Activision is out to make money and what better way to market destiny that to do so on the highest selling Next gen console. Sony most likely did pay for the exclusives and negotiated the ps3 exclusives be included. But I doubt it was a bank breaking deal. Bungie probably agreed to the tactic to help distance themselves from Microsoft and show they are independent considering the only other thing they are acknowledged for is Halo which is a Microsoft exclusive.
-
Microsoft had just brought minecraft? That might be a reason
-
I believe it was the terms of their separation.
-
Money paid by Sony. Microsoft didnt. Not complicated.
-
Microsoft and Sony both bid for exclusives, Sony won, hence Sony exclusives.
-
Part of it may be because Microsoft pretty much stole halo from bungie and gave it to 343i. So bungie wanted to make Microsoft jealous and give play station an exclusive like how halo was the face of xbox for many years. They are hoping to accomplish that with play station
-
Well if you're sour about exclusives, then should all console exclusives, including console exclusive games be made available to all consoles? Than means PS4 also gets games like Halo, as XBOne also gets games like The Last of Us. That would be fair right? If you say no, but still complain about Destiny on PS4 getting exclusive content, then be quiet.
-
There's a lot of friction between Bungie and Microsoft because their contract with Halo. The fans aren't really helping things either, by continuously attacking Bungie over the exclusive deal for Sony. In other news, I've Sony is going to lose a lot of contracts and exclusives may brought to Microsoft sooner, because Sony has broke several contracts and falsely advertised several features of the PS4. It's hasn't played many of the games at a full 1080p 60fps as it said it would (go online, you can find a list of the games, some of them console exclusive).
-
Pretty sure Microsoft screwed them over if I'm not mistaken

Edited by Swiftlock: 1/4/2015 2:47:20 AMThe Sony exclusives aren't even worth a damn aside from the Hawkmoon and MAYBE the Monte Carlo if you have a very niche melee build. The strikes aren't worth the extra effort, the ships are just reskins, and the exclusive armor sets are blues and NOT purples. You're really not missing much.

Well after so many years of Halo being an Xbox exclusive, it's nice to shake things up.
-
Bill gates cannot buy out Sony lol. And apple is not the richest company in the world
-
All i have to say without reading most of your post is they thought everyone would be like OMG HALO 5 when in reality. ...... 343i ruined halo -.-
-
Microsoft did it with fifa. So what you know what you are buying?
-
They knew destiny was crap so why try
