WHY?
GOOD QUESTION. Obviously a contract was made between Sony and Bungie to guarantee exclusives for playstation, BUT. The question is, WHY. Clearly, Sony paid some cash for that, in hopes it would sway a many a folk to buy a playstation, to have the "superior" destiny console. What I don't understand is that, WHY, did Microsoft not make this deal. Now let's get something straight, Microsoft is SO F*CKING RICH, the second wealthiest company in the world (behind apple), Bill Gates who helped to found it, is so f*cking rich, he alone could buy out sony, bend it over a barrel and ride that f*cker into the ground, and he would still be one of the richest men in the world, no sweat. SO, Just imagine how much cash the entire company has. It seems Microsoft could have easily made that contract right? But there's more to it, now I'm not sure about what happened exactly. No one knows if Microsoft just didn't see the opportunity as feasible or outright decided, F*ck you Bungie, for even considering another console as your exclusive outlet. And the latter makes more sense to me, because listen up. Obviously Halo was an outstanding franchise that "defined a generation" and popularized first person shooters, made them mainstream. But did you ever think to realize who made Bungie!!!?, F*cking MICROSOFT MADE BUNGIE WHO THEY ARE TODAY, without Microsoft taking a leap, signing Bungie in to the squad and taking them under their wing, guiding them to greatness, you likely wouldn't know what the f*ck I was talking about when I said Bungie, you'd probably think I was some weird assmotherf*cker talking about trampolines or some sh*t. Bungie owes EVERYTHING to Microsoft. So it begs the question, WHY, WHY did Bungie choose Sony over Microsoft, over the company that nurtured and cared for their frightened newborn baby of a company in Bungie? I DONT KNOW. But it pisses me the f*ck off and poses as a monumental curiosity in my eyes! Thank you for your time.

The OG Xbox was popularized primarily because of Halo. It was next gen FPS gaming and that no one had seen before. Microsoft didn't make Bungie what it is today, Bungie made the Xbox into what it is today.
-
Bungie single handedly launch microsofts gaming division, Xbox. Bungie was then treated so poorly they bought themselves back from Microsoft. That's why they were more willing to cut a deal with Sony
-
I play on PS4 and so far the only exclusive I have seen is the lousy PSN
-
It's incredibly simple, and I don't understand where people are getting their ideas from. Xbox has a Bungie fan-base. PlayStation did not. Imagine if Destiny was marketed out to Xbox instead of PS. The PS community might not have been so keen on supporting it. So, now what they have is a legion of grateful PS players who consider themselves huge Bungie fans, and a bunch of Xbox players who (even though they got short-changed) still love Bungie because of their past with them. Bungie wins.
-
Bungie was better before Microsoft. Just sayin.
-
Halo brought them mainstream, but Bungie was making incredible games well before Microsoft came on the scene.
-
Microsoft got years of exclusives with cod. Swings and roundabouts. It's always been about money and you're incredibly naive if you think the real world works any differently.
-
You realise that XBox has never made a profit? It's a loss making division. Same for Sony. Basically get another job and buy a ps4 or stop whining like a little baby.
-
I recommend you just stop playing it
-
Because Microsoft took halo from bungie destiny is a f u from bungie to microsoft. Not a big because it's not console exclusive but it still is
-
I think Activision chose Sony as an outreach decision. Legions of Xbox fans are already Bungie fans. To Bungie, Playstation is a new frontier and it was important to appeal to this new base of players. It's less about cold hard cash and more about strategy.

Kids... maybe one day you will work in the corporate world and understand. Until then, you don't have a clue. It's just business. Company severs tie with another company under bad reasons. Company comes out with a product and caters to their rival. Rival behind in the rat race, looks to captialize in the next one. Pays large sum for exclusives. Company agrees and rest is history. It is what it is. All that "Bungie owes Microsoft" is just a child's thinking. They don't owe them anything. In fact, didn't they give up Halo and lost some of their devs in the breakup? So I say they paid in full. In the end, kids, you need to get over it. You had MS grab exclusives for you for a long time now. Just deal with it...or buy a PS4.
-
MICROSOFT FUK'D BUNGIE!!!! So why would they give them anything but a big Fug u?
-
This post is literally tl:Dr but while scrolling I saw a few caps words and swearing so in response; SONY FUNDED ADVERTISING FOR DESTINY THAT'S WHY WE GET SHIT FOR A WHOLE YEAR BEFORE YOU DO.
-
First off, these threads have been long dead, leave them that way. Second off, it would be activision and not bungie, that struck a deal, very necessary distinction to make.
-
The exclusive strikes on the PS4 are shit anyways they take to -blam!-ing long and are annoying !!! Only thing I would want would be the exotic guns ! Lol

Edited by yokonato: 1/4/2015 6:58:42 PMI've always wondered why everyone sees Sony as this no fail company? Microsoft may not have done as well in the console wars but in overall they are much more successful, "how is that true?" Sony has something called the vita it did so bad many people received refunds cause it's revolutionary claims were considered false advertising and psp was crap sales compared to the Nintendo ds series. Edit: Before it slides off topic I should also add my main point is neither company is solely superior there both great and unless you hold 65 percent shares in either company and can show us your annual company earnings along with certified revenue earnings saying " my --- console is the best" is no more than you being a fanboy and at worse hopping on the bandwagon
-
Stop moaning you tomato, it's normal for most games these days. Play Fifa and xbox get exclusive access to legendary players and ps4 get nothing
-
Very simple answer. Sony - "with the PS4 we're going for the ultimate gaming console." Microsoft - "with the Xbox one we're going for the ultimate media/home theater system." This is how both systems were advertised from the start. Why are people still confused about it?
-
Why? Simple anwer, the solution to all companies question, MONEY, MONEY, MONEY, MONEY...and I think....MONEY!!!
-
Considering activision chose to give Sony the exclusive content makes this thread pointless
-
Please use paragraphs. My eyes T.T
-
Shut up and wait for it to come out on xbox, Microsoft just didn't want to pay the money, bungi is in the business to make money, of corse if sony payed then for the exclusives there gonna take it, Microsoft isn't intitled to be exclusives just because of halo
-
Stopped after "why did Microsoft not make this deal" and here's an answer: if both companies had made that "deal" what would be the point? "Oh, we'll both pay you for exclusive content...oh wait", then its not exclusive anymore is it? Then its just part of the game, and why pay more for just another part of the game?
-
Activision chose sony. /thread

Bill Gates realized Sony needed SOMETHING to help out the company profits. Good Guy Bill Gates.
