WHY?
GOOD QUESTION. Obviously a contract was made between Sony and Bungie to guarantee exclusives for playstation, BUT. The question is, WHY. Clearly, Sony paid some cash for that, in hopes it would sway a many a folk to buy a playstation, to have the "superior" destiny console. What I don't understand is that, WHY, did Microsoft not make this deal. Now let's get something straight, Microsoft is SO F*CKING RICH, the second wealthiest company in the world (behind apple), Bill Gates who helped to found it, is so f*cking rich, he alone could buy out sony, bend it over a barrel and ride that f*cker into the ground, and he would still be one of the richest men in the world, no sweat. SO, Just imagine how much cash the entire company has. It seems Microsoft could have easily made that contract right? But there's more to it, now I'm not sure about what happened exactly. No one knows if Microsoft just didn't see the opportunity as feasible or outright decided, F*ck you Bungie, for even considering another console as your exclusive outlet. And the latter makes more sense to me, because listen up. Obviously Halo was an outstanding franchise that "defined a generation" and popularized first person shooters, made them mainstream. But did you ever think to realize who made Bungie!!!?, F*cking MICROSOFT MADE BUNGIE WHO THEY ARE TODAY, without Microsoft taking a leap, signing Bungie in to the squad and taking them under their wing, guiding them to greatness, you likely wouldn't know what the f*ck I was talking about when I said Bungie, you'd probably think I was some weird assmotherf*cker talking about trampolines or some sh*t. Bungie owes EVERYTHING to Microsoft. So it begs the question, WHY, WHY did Bungie choose Sony over Microsoft, over the company that nurtured and cared for their frightened newborn baby of a company in Bungie? I DONT KNOW. But it pisses me the f*ck off and poses as a monumental curiosity in my eyes! Thank you for your time.

The trampoline part cracked me up

simle answer, ACTIVISION. next question please

This was originally an Xbox exclusive, but bungie got mad because they didn't "Own" the IP so they said -blam!- you Microsoft and broke up part of the deal. They still released the game to Microsoft but they sided with Sony more. Get your facts straight ps4 scrub lords.

Use Line Breaker

Why? Who knows besides the people that made the deal. Does it matter coming on here and complaining about it and bringing a few console war replies. Yeah it kinda sucks that Xbox has to wait for however long to play 2 strikes and get 3(4?) exotics that aren't game changing in anyway. I like the two strikes, but thinking about doing them as a nightfall makes me not want them in the regular rotation. Dust palace might not be so bad. but the unyielding mind on void burn would be dumb, not impossible but I might think about skipping it for that week. Also the weapons aren't that great, hawkmoon is nice but I really don't use it much after leveling it up(2.0 version). 4th horsemen, shotgun and just sits on my alt so I don't waste vault space but it's probably gonna get dismantled in the end because I never use shotguns. Monte carlo is just another auto rifle and I never really cared for it, got it on VoG hard before DLC and played with it a bit. Didn't care for it over hardlight and trashed it.
-
Lol xbox gets a whole additional dlc bundle cause of this. While ps fanboys are tired of destiny xbox will get all the exclusive shit bringing new life to the game. Who's the real winner here?
-
He just raging because he doesn't get the sweet sweet smoothness of Monte Carlo. PLAYSTATION IS MASTER RACE

Edited by ssjubi4: 1/5/2015 4:19:46 PMJust money, a way for a ceo/manager to bring in more cash for the charts. Every year they have to make more profit/money than the last year. And they'll try anything to make that happen. Most times, even if it hurts the customer base. These management people are blinded by the charts and they never see the full picture only in retrospect. All companies are the same. And I've worked for various corporations and been around the executives. I know this is their way of thinking.
-
What are u talking about? Im gonna go play the Undying Mind strike and the Dust Palace with my Monte Carlo 2.0. Oh thats right you cant, because you purchased that xbox. :)

People really need to use paragraphs when they type these long ass threads. My eyes see it, and is like nope. Come one kids don't you remember how to paragraph ?

Ok people...it's not bungie who did the deal... the designers and maintainers of the game are bungie... all other aspects of this game is controlled by the greedy worthless company Activision... same company that help bring the downfall of video games back when Atari was still around...so before you start crying about bungie this and bungie that...know that unless it's game mechanics, crappy imagination(the new raid ship being a hive glass minuet ship), or kill trading in PvP, then it's all ACTIVISION that's keeping us from what this game could really be... they decided to cut the story up for dlc...they decided to do a deal with PlayStation(Activision being a CoD maker and PlayStation lover)... they are the ones to be boycotted... why are they not? Well let's see... you blind idiots love being sold the same deal with a new number after it... Activision will never change its greedy ways... bungie next time should just do things the way they want and then the game will be amazing...

PlayStation be like: "Everything you can do, I can do better!"
-
Apple and Microsoft isn't the biggest company and bill gates is no where near the richest guy in the world not even sure if he's top 20 anymore
-
-
Tbh its clear bungie hate Microsoft probably because they -blam!-ed em over with the halo franchise which was their baby. If both company offered the same amount of money I can clearly see bungie picking Sony over microsoft
-
Edited by InsaneLemur: 1/5/2015 3:28:30 PMIt is all money. I get that you think Microsoft made Bungie but that goes both ways. Halo was a huge game that helped Xbox get some legs. Many forget that PS2 dominated the console wars and the original Xbox was way behind. I am not a fan of exclusive content on cross platform games but it is here to stay.
-
To any PS players saying to XBOX players we were lucky to even get the game, you are false. The game was originally intended to be a Microsoft exclusive; meaning only for xBox. Get over yourselves
-
Because Microsoft -blam!-ed them over and denied them rightful ownership of Halo. My understanding is that Bungie wanted to own halo but MS didn't let them so Bungie created Destiny in hope of starting a new franchise as big as halo and actually own the -blam!-ing thing.
-
I stopped reading when I realized you couldn't spell "paid" correctly.
-
I could be wrong, but I remember reading somewhere that when Bungie originally approached Microsoft about Destiny Microsoft wasn't all to thrilled/interested about/in it. Either way what's done is done, woulda-coulda-shoulda never changes anything. I just hope they add more to the main story.
-
Well as far as you asking why bill gates didn't shell out the cash.....he's gone on record saying he's no longer a fan of the gaming side of Microsoft. I believe he also said he wanted to shut down the whole Xbox side of the operation. Glad he didn't though
-
They probably had a look at the game and were like: "Really, that's it?" Bungie: "Yes. We know it's not what we showed off at GDC 2013. We had our visionary people leave, because we wanted to make a different game after all. Are you guys in?" Microsoft: "Nope."
-
You have it backwards. Xbox wouldn't exist without Halo.
-
Your late to the party. This conversation was so 2014.
-
The OG Xbox was popularized primarily because of Halo. It was next gen FPS gaming and that no one had seen before. Microsoft didn't make Bungie what it is today, Bungie made the Xbox into what it is today.
