You're all lazy and want a free handout.
Edit: Point I'm trying to make is new people asking for handouts.
Edit 2: If you do think trading should be allowed give me a VALID LONG TERM REASON that would BENEFIT the game. Not because "O I have a bunch of extras I want to give my friends"
Edit 3: Sorry if I don't get to your reply I'm trying my best and its a little hard to keep track. (Also thank you to the people making good counter arguments against me this is how things get done in a well fashioned manor)

I don't use spinmetal. Most of my weapons and gear just don't require it. But because of bounties, especially the Eris bounties, I spend a lot of time on earth. I have to. Blades of Crota and a ton of hive are there and the public events are the best I think. But there's no point in grabbing spinmetal anymore or even doing chest runs while I'm there because I've already got hundreds of spinmetal and never use it. It would be nice if I could do SOMETHING with it. Trading it with other players or even a vendor for other materials would be better than having a block of 200 taking up space in my vault.
-
Why can't trading be implemented at end game. I.e. i finish crotas end with my fireteam. I get my 4th blackhammer and my friend gets his 3rd raid helmet. We could then be given the opportunity to trade those items but only during the end game of that raid (we both completed the raid so therefore are 'worthy' enough to have either piece)
-
Dude. I see trading as a very viable solution to destiny's loot problem. But in the actual sense of trading, only items of equal quality can be traded. Say a legendary for a legendary, or exotic and exotic. Or material trades. Those don't have to be equal value though. Also , maybe 2 legendary guns for an exotic. And glimmer betting on sparrow racing would be great

Edited by hexxem: 1/4/2015 12:29:41 AMI'm not new or lazy. Fact is I shouldn't have to put in over 550 hours to get a weapon I want.

Think of a the people with 2-4-8 jellyhorns & icebreaker who would make lots of PayPal cash

The game was first created with a trading system, the system had been designed to work before the game was torn apart and made what it is today. If you look it up on youtube theres an E3 Demo where the Dev talks about trading AND gambling systems. ill try to find the link later, kinda typed this on the crapper. XD

Well I haven't seen the vid yet cause I'm driving but when I do I'll edit this. But to your comment about what he said about his friends taking a long time. I don't think I've even put 72 hours of gameplay into destiny yet I may have not sure but I'm a Christmas noob and already my warlock is a 29 and I've maxed out voidwalker and I'm about halfway done with sunsinger. So it doesn't take long at all to reach the high levels. Granted I hit a wall at 26 because I had all blues but the second I got my vanguard rank to 2 I got purple boots and gloves shot up to 28 then found a vog group. Then when our came I got the warlock chest piece and now I'm a 29 and when I'm able to upgrade my armour I'm sure I'll be a 30 maybe 31. And I still have a blue helmet sadly.

Edited by Totenswander: 1/4/2015 12:06:29 AMFunny this should come up as I just watched this video today: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4wHMhqo1eXg I didn't make it, but it's excellent (IMO) in making the case for why this game SHOULD have a trading system. Check it out for yourselves. Edit: The part where he says that he's discouraged his friends from buying Destiny because it would take them so long to get to a point where they could even play with him really drove it home for me.
-
haha because starting a post by calling everyone lazy is representative of doing things in a well-fashioned manor...
-
I dont really want a free handout, i have 4 plan c's and have gotten 7 in total, i would trade all these plan c's for one ghorn, red death, or radiant dance machines idc m8's

Edited by Din: 1/3/2015 8:50:52 PMI agree there should not be a trading system in destiny, but not because people are lazy. - it will cause duping and manipulation of data which will force Bungie to focus on security instead of context. - it will cause a real life money economy in the game which will really separate the players and create a "pay to win" game. This will cause people to buy their gear, get bored faster, quit the game, reduce the number of players, kill the game because this is a multiplayer game. Trading is bad.

Do you guys remember the mountains of weapons that we used to trade and give to each other in Borderlands2???? That never harmed anyone, no one was buying stuff from no one, we all just "hippie" shared everthing, all of us had multiple characters, we did all the hard bosses 50 times a day. For All the the people that are AGAINST trading are pretentious and selfish c#nts... It is my OWN FECKIN business if I want give my FRIENDS crap that I dont want , but they want.
-
I think a trading system would work with limitations but if it was just and open thing, people would begin selling items for real money
-
If the trading system is implanted right, the trading system will really help out destiny 1. Raid armor and weapons are exclusive to the raids. You want them? Play the raid. Same with the exotic bounty with weapons. 2. You can only trade items of equal value For an example, exotic weapon for exotic weapon. This will prevent one player giving a new player a handful of exotics If implanted right, a trading system will help Destiny a lot
-
No way, this would exponentially widen the gap between casuals and hardcores. It would benefit me greatly, I'm all for it but it would not be beneficial to the game.
-
What if I get a titan helmet from a night fall and my titan buddy gets hunter boots, we are both pissed and jealous of each other. If we could trade something of EQUAL VALUE me and my friend would both be happy.
-
I made a thread about a system in relation to this. Check it out below How would we feel about an Auction where guardians could put their uneeded items up for auction for a certaint glimmer or material price. Edit 1: GuardianA has a hawkmoon that he doesnt need GuardianB wants a hawkmoon but cant get the drop GuardianA goes the the Auction house at the tower and puts up his hawkmoon in the auction broker for (any number) amount of glimmer/material . GuardianB then goes the Auction broker and buys the hawkmoon for that amount of glimmer/material GuardianA put up for the weapon . Everyones happy. GuardianA has glimmer/material for his uneeded item and GuardianB has the item he wanted. Edit 2: Yes this may bring the reign of scammers and hackers but bungie could implement ways to avoid these problems. Edit 3: Post whatever you guys think about the idea and post new ways to prevent scammers and hackers or ideas you have that you may want added. People that think negatively about this or those who dont like this idea say why you dont like this idea please Edit 4: people are stating that within a weeks time most guardians will have nearly every exotic that may be true but what if there was a mimimim amoint you HAD to put up an exotic for.If a Guardian put up an exotic they have to put it up for a minimum amount, such if a Guardian put up a thunderlord it has to at least cost (example): 80k glimmer or 80 of a certaint matrial Edit 5: For those who admire grinding this Auction would in a way promote it because of a Gurdian needed 80k glimmer they would have to "grind" for it. No way around that.
-
If it was allowed it should be you can only trade for something of equal value. No hand outs. Example: an exotic for an exotic.
-
Trading would make people quit and not make people buy the game. No financial benefit to Bungie and only a game benefit to casual players. Terrible idea. Last thing we want is WTS Ghorn $200.00.
-
Edited by Guardian7114: 1/3/2015 4:37:14 PMScenario - player A has a warlock. Player A has been grinding for since launch for a heart of praxic fire. Player A bought a head piece engram from xur. Saint 14 helm acquired. Player B sacrificed several goats to RNGESUS for a saint 14 helm with no end However, he does have a praxic fire stored in his vault. If you're worried people will give out exotics for free on reddit and ebay then a very strict system can be implemented. 150 vanguard or crucible along with a token purchased from the speaker for 10 motes of light. That way scrubs will have to grind endlessly for trading moreover, with the new material and vanguard exchange vanguard marks are pretty scarce so a compromise should be made.

Edited by xVIPERxTRIXTAx: 1/3/2015 6:33:58 PMFree handout? A trade is a agreement, a deal for something both guardians desire. That is not -blam!-ing handout, take your head out your ass
-
Trading was originally intended that's why the loot system is RNG instead of having an legendary guaranteed at the end of a mission people would all have that weapon and you couldn't trade it but since it's RNG everyone has a chance at getting it but it's not guaranteed so it's more valuable on the trade
-
I think if this game had trading, nobody would play. Because this whole game is about grinding for what you want (wasting time) if you could trade, people would just get what they want and then get bored
-
I love how people use RNG not giving them what they want as an excuse. Here's the thing, once you finally do get that drop, it's going to be that much more amazing because you have been waiting for so long. Also, this is the reason for RNG to begin with, is ice breaker awesome, sure. Is gjallarhorn awesome, yeah. Would you use these other exotics that are super fun and unique if you already had the ones you want? Probably not. My first exotic was pocket infinity, I didn't like fusion rifles and hated it's charge rate and 3 rounds. Regardless I used it because it was my only exotic and I had to show it off. Well after a week of dailies and bounties that POS fusion rifle became my favorite gun with its fully auto and 8 rounds. It was a beast. Since then I have never disregarded an exotic because another might be better. I still haven't got to try them all, but what I'm saying is enjoy what you have instead of being disappointed that it's not what you want. For all those who say "but it gives me armor for a class I don't have". Bungie intended that to encourage people to try all three classes. Worst case scenario, you just got an exotic shard which will come in handy in the future.
-
Free handout huh? You mean like getting a Gjallarhorn handed to you while some of us have days and days of play time and haven't been lucky enough to get it because of the shit RNG system? Yep.
-
Selling Gjallarhorn $50 OBO That would be all over the forums and I'll be one of the people selling it. (:
