In theory, it's possible. What if he's one of those people who deletes characters to power level to 20 to do the raid more than 3 times a week. Let's say he does the weekly every time too. Maybe he remakes a character every day, and does the weekly as well. That's 3 original characters, and 7 times deleting and recreating. That's 90 coins per week, or 1350 after 15 weeks. In that time it probably reasonable to think he got quite a few from engrams, a couple hundred at least. If he does the Nightfall 10 times a week as well, chances are he's been rewarded with enough coins to make it 2000. Of course, that's all theoretical. An entirely possible, but not likely scenario. The more likely scenarios are: A) a typo, or B) an intentional exaggeration. Neither of which warranted a serious response from you.
