So last night was New Year's Eve (duh) and my friends and I were lighting some fireworks. We had some Roman candles, bottle rockets, and some mortars. We got a little scare when some of the shots from the roman candles started to barely pop out of the tube and explode right in front of us, but all in all it was still a good night. Then I decided to shoot off a mortar. We'd already fired off a few with no problems. I walked out and slid the shot into the tube, lit it, then retreated back to the group to watch. Now, as you probably know, mortar shots are designed to fire high into the air and explode. Well for some reason, this particular mortar shot decided to shoot up maybe 10 feet and spin around, before exploding right in front of us and showering us with the pretty sparks and shit that are supposed to be enjoyed, not cowered from. So...yeah, almost died (or at least almost got severely burned). True story.
