It's time to allow cross gen for destiny! For so long players have been complaining that they can't play with their friends who haven't gotten next gen consoles or can't afford to. Bungie constantly says they are trying to build a community of togetherness and cooperation, why not let us play with our friends in the same console family?
I understand the argument about better hardware giving an unfair advantage but that advantage could very well be due to the TV the player is using and I think the benefits of being able to play with friends on older consoles far outweighs the negative aspects (are there any really??).
So c'mon Bungie, give the people what they want! Let me know what you think Guardians

No we don't.
-
Cross gen is less a Bungie issue as it is a Sony/Microsoft issue
-
id love to slaughter the majority of ps scrubs in pvp
knowing my luck bungie would probably just put them on my team
>Do it

HELL NO! Previous gen console are holding destiny back! Your old consoles can not handle destiny
-
One word to answer this whole post. Money
-
Sony has 2 current gen machines Microsoft has 2 current gen machines I have 2 current gen machines If a manufacturer supports a machine its current. I know Sony hasn't given a cut-of date yet as too many PS3's are still being purchased. I thought they would terminate support at the end of this year. If the game ran server side then it could potentially be cross platform. I only have 1 friend not on Sony's platforms so I dont really care. Yes developers could push more if they stopped supporting the older spec current gen machines.
-
No. The hardware limitations already dictate that this cannot be done. The previous Gen already performs very very differently than next Gen consoles. And this is disregarding the fundamental hell no that comes with two competing companies to have a game on the same server.
-
No sorry...if anything I feel that keeping up Destiny on last gen is hurting ps4/xbone. I started Destiny on PS3 and upgraded at Xmas with the digital upgrade...worlds of difference in game quality. Blizzard tried this with D3 and they gave up when RoS came out...there was one last update for last gen then it was over...right now bungie has to code this game for 4 different consoles. Yes it would suck for last gen to no longer get updates...but they can only take them so far as is...Destiny 2 should be only current gen.
-
It's already possible....I play on the Xbox 360 and the Xbox One
-
Edited by ryanhatfield: 3/19/2015 5:39:20 PMThis is already possible... Buy both systems
-
Edited by EoS: 3/19/2015 4:52:24 PMThis would have nothing to do with Bungie until Microsoft and Sony allow their respective consoles to talk to each other.
-
Honestly, it would be nice, but I don't know if the systems could handle it. The last-gen, at least. There's major quality issues between the two, server-wise. For example: played on my XbOne on and off all day long. Not a single disconnect. Get on the 360 to play with friends? 4 times removed from game world, 3-4 regular server disconnects and re-sign-ins, all inside an hour. Both consoles use the same connection, there was nothing else interfering with it.

Last gen is almost 10 years old. It's time to leave it behind and upgrade. You can purchase an XB1 for $350, or a PS4 for $400. Save up some money and purchase a system if it's that important to you. Or you could help your friend purchase a new console.

Edited by iSeeBulletz: 3/19/2015 4:27:06 AMI want it too I agree but for PVP purposes they explain how next gen would have the current advantage. They explain this in which if : Player A (next gen) is a certain distance apart from Player B (last gen) only Player A would be able to see player B Becuz the games can render in that properly whereas Player B would not see player A becuz it wouldn't be able to render in. They did originally plan to cross platform but there were too many advantages for next gen. But this example that they used is very bad. Because lets be honest, the maps are small enough to where render wouldn't be a problem. If they did cross platform/cross gen though it would probably be only for pve
-
Ps3/xbox360 would be way underpowered in pvp new gen run at 60fps lets say so old gen would run at half. They couldnt get the smooth experience against new gen so new gen would dominate with max frames and it would run faster
-
Will never happen. Ever.
-
Destiny shouldn't have been on the last gen anyway so your argument is already invalid due to overstepping bounds.
-
I want destiny on Wii... That would be interesting in pvp lmao
-
Xbox one and Ps4 cross gen would be awesome. Lets just scrap the old systems and mane them into another destiny disc lol
-
No. People need to get a CURRENT gen console. Sorry that your parents bought you a ps3 or 360 when you were 12 and now that you're 22 you have to come up with money on your own to get stuff.
"you" doesnt refer to you, op. just old gen gamers in general
Edited by Nodnarb: 3/19/2015 8:05:43 AMAdvantage is not due to the tv. My avg crucible score is significantly lower on ps3 using the same tv as my ps4. Ps4 controller is also way more responsive. They could easily limit it to pve though, which would be awesome.
-
Just save some money and upgrade? Its bullshit that you cant afford it just save a few coins every month and eventually you have enough to upgrade.
-
That would be awesome, the problem is having Sony, Msoft and Nintendo, come to an agreement.
