In Madden, a player can put up a player card for auction. They use coins, and you earn coins by completing challenges and winning multiplayer games.
Why could the same system not work for player armor and weapons. We already have the currency system. People could put up an unwanted legendary or exotic, and people could bid on them with rare coins and notes of light or whatever other currencies the armor or weapons go for.
That way, it isn't any easier to get good stuff. You still have to either earn the coins or whatever to buy them, but if you get something for a different class, or you want a different type weapon, you still have a way to acquire it. The game would still drop the original items, so it wouldn't create a glut of gear.
What do you think?

No trade would ruin the game everyone would get what they wanted and then just stop playing after that out of boredom. The only way bungie keeps people playing with this story and repetitive crap is making people work to try and get the good guns.
