Anime.. any suggestions?
I was convinced 2 give anime a try. I don't watch anime because it seems to be very soap opera-ish/raunchy .. with that said, what do you suggest? Only thing i can say is I enjoy a well written story.
Update: started watching death note... way better than expected.

For your position specifically watch Sword Art Online (the first one) it's a really cool series except for the second half of the season stop after they wake up pls. It's on Netflix.

As with all things, there are many sides to anime. There is a raunchy, disturbing side to anime, but you don't have to concern yourself with that. Death note is a great one. Also, try Full Metal Alchemist. There are two versions, the first one deviates from the original manga and is less serious at times, the other version, Full Metal Alchemist: Brotherhood, follows the manga almost exactly and is stays serious the whole time. Both are fantastic with awesome stories. Angel beats is another great one. It's more whimsical than Full Metal Alchemist or death note, but has a very fun and deep story. I shed a manly tear at the end of that one. Huge plot twist at the end. Those are my suggestions! Go!

Um. Not sure if you will like these two. Code geass and the heroic legend of Arsland. They both have a very war time theme. Just one being in the future with mechs and the other being based on Persian empire and that time era.
