So the founder of Mega/MegaUpload Kim Dotcom (twitter @KimDotcom) just paid LizardSquad to end the attacks on PSN and XBL.
And these punk kids made off like bandits.
They were compensated with 3,000 premium vouchers for Megas server storage service valued at 99 bucks each for a value of $297,000USD.
Each voucher entitles them to 1 years worth of storage at 500mb a pop. Puts it at 1.5 million megs, or 1,405 gigs, or 11.44 terabytes whichever you prefer.
Kim went on to add that these vouchers would be lifetime passes and would be terminated if they ever attacked the servers again.
So thats it. The gaming community is the new ransom victim. With a payout like that, whats to stop other people from using us to get paid?
And these douchers weren't even hackers. Just DDoS script kiddies with a few bitcoins each.

Skip to the bottom of the article for the update regarding this payoff.
Edit: Forgot to add: at this point services on XB1 and PS4 remain down from the aftermath as updates are performed.
