Wasting time on videogames is a phrase that makes me laugh. Sure some people do nothing but play, some play a few hours a week. How is it any different than spending that same amount of time watching TV? The only difference is wasting away in front of the TV has become a societal norm and is looked at indifferently. At least with games your brain is active and improving certain skills.
