Its a video game people. If you want to talk about people being lazy, lets all stop wasting 100s of hours of our lives playing useless video games. How many people are listing on their college applications and work resumes "Beat Crota 20 Times Legit"? Its a game. A game none of us should be playing this much. At a "casual" 178 hrs I am ashamed of myself. There was just a post from a guy who is quitting in disgust after 600 hours because he wasnt getting what he wanted from drops. Never hear someone say "I spent 600 hours in the gym and it didnt work out for me". This is not real life. Stop treating it that way.

  • Wasting time on videogames is a phrase that makes me laugh. Sure some people do nothing but play, some play a few hours a week. How is it any different than spending that same amount of time watching TV? The only difference is wasting away in front of the TV has become a societal norm and is looked at indifferently. At least with games your brain is active and improving certain skills.

Actually high end raid leaders in WoW would put it on their resume. Leading a team of people through a raid full of mechanics where everything has to be spot on, dealing with interpersonal squabbles, and everything else that comes with running a guild of 50+ people and managing multiple raid groups shows good management abilities. You have to make your case, but, especially if people take it seriously, it's really not different than being a manager. Assigning tasks, making decisions in stressful situations, so forth and so on. In any case having that on their resume has aided people on gaining employment. Not saying that Destiny is there, but it's a different perspective. In the end you are still dealing with people. Whether you care about those people will determine how "real" that experience is.

  • Anyone who puts WoW on the resume they submit to an employer should be banned from procreation...If your dim enough to think otherwise then you should be too.

  • Lol, you try managing 50+ people, co-ordinating times, who's getting loot (back in the old days), who's doing what, dealing with personal issues between players, and then come back. If you still feel the same then cool.

  • Ya and as your references are you just gonna put down those clan mates? Make a photocopy of your score and kills at the end of the game and fax that in as well. It's an empty claim with no real way to back it up. And no employer is gonna take you seriously. WoW is not work experience and in a professional environment doesn't mean anything.

It's not about score, and references from your clan mates aren't't needed (though the type of person who would do this is probably in a clan/guild built around other proffessions who would be able to make the links between managing people to a business proffessional). It's not about kill count either. The raids in Destiny pale in comparision to the depths of mechanics and co-ordination it takes to complete that content. Multiple mechanics going on simultaniously that require precise execution from multiple players in the team to move past are common and frequent. To say that your group was in the top ten guilds to complete a raid first is a feat in itself. That group in general has to have great problem solving skills, good communication skills, and a myriad of other skills that would be advantageous for an employer to have. Most of these people aren't your stereotypical gamers either. They have families and jobs so time managment a scheduling comes into play heavily. While it sounds outrageous at first once you see that you're working with people under difficult circumstances that call for you to perform at your best consistantly for an unknown amount of time, the parallels can be drawn. Taking those base skills and applying the to a job should produce similar results, so long as the rest of your team is on the same level of performance. Even if they aren't't you probably have experience helping people who are having trouble in areas of their given tasks on a personal and proffessional level. *shrugs*

  • The fact you think it's a good idea to put video games on your resume says everything an employer needs to know about you...no matter how you dress it up in the professional world I can tell you for a fact you won't be taken seriously, lol not that you should anyway.

So you're telling me that a sport coach who managed a champion ship team shouldn't't put that down on his resume as an example of leadership because it's a game? Hold on, I'll find the articles that explain how it worked for people.

  • That's completely different... The fact you don't see that is alarming. Football a SPORT NOT a VIDEOGAME Is a part of national youth, high school, collegiate, and professional orginization and a fundamental structure of physical activity problem solving and team work. The fact that it is a recognized "SPORT" is the reason it is acceptable. Video games are not a sport and your just making yourself look worse and worse trying to defend putting video games on a resume mainly because you just compared video games to athletics. Come on kid use your head. And another thing unless your gonna be managing a team from the other side of the phone how does an employer know you good people skills face to face? Since managing a team is usually done in person.

  • So you know for a fact that corporate America would accept a resume that contained a guy's WoW stats? Lmao
