No female character stands out except for the queen really. Even then, I think she's pretty covered up all things considered if I remember right, haven't seen her for awhile since I try to avoid them cut scenes when I can.
Other than that I can't think of any issue for females in this game.
I'm proud of what Destiny did for female characters. We even have decent POC representation. As for the queen, she's not hanging out in battle, she's on her throne. She's the damn queen, and gets to wear whatever she wants.
As for the lumps on chest pieces for female armour. For mass effect in particular, I don't see anything wrong with it other than for how much it sticks out which pretty much would imply all of them have fairly large breasts.
Average females even ones on the larger side of the averages, don't really need that much extra space in a standard piece of chest armour, at least not the kind of space implied in mass effect.
I explained in the OP why that armor is actually hazardous to the wearer. Mass Effect isn't an issue of "this is too sexy." It's an issue of sexualizing armor for the sake of it, thus creating something that's canonically dangerous to the user.
As for other games. Well in a market mostly dominated by males for the longest time and still is, what can you expect?
I have come to expect to not be blatantly ignored and marginalized. Women make up 50% of game consumers. Males 25 and under are not even 20%.
I know females that actually like wearing the hardly anything armour or cosmetic items like that. I can understand why they would too.
As someone who has actually partaken in research on a large scale on this matter, I wouldn't say that the women you know don't represent everyone else. But that's not the point. Men and women both have power fantasies. Sometimes those fantasies in games include hypersexualized appearances, and that's fine. But when POC, LGBT, and feminine representation is saturated with just deep stereotypes and tropes, there's a problem.
There's a market for hypersexualized power fantasies; but that's not all we want.
