Eh it's only scary at the perfect time to be scary and even then it lacks the tension that FNAF has because it's fairly predictable. I've played around 2 hours of it and there were a couple of times where I would say "que jump scare" and then be like "ok umm yeah so scary". The cutscenes however are reminiscent of a thriller than a horror film but they are enjoyable (muh fingers nooo you bastard I hate you now. I want to kill you now but this game probably won't let me gaaaah I want a gun. Why didn't I take the soldiers gun at the beginning he was dying on pike. Surely he had a pistol on him gaaaaah this game has doesn't let me interact with anything that would make my character seem smart). Overall I'm enjoying it but I'm glad I didn't spend $20 on it.

Like you said, it is more of a thriller type game, with the fear based around the primal flight or flight response, not so much monsters in the dark. And I'm sad you aren't enjoying it as much as I did. But I'm the sort of guy that jumps head-first into immersion, so.... XD
