So this Thread clearly explains why the Networkglitch is in a whole other class than all the glitches/cheesing that did go on in the vault:

FYI: At least three persons already got banned

EDIT: For all the Naysayers that say Bungie/sony couldn`t possibly distinguish between a random and a deliberate DC.
1.Lets just assume that there is a time-window of 5 seconds around the point where Crota kneels down to dc on purpose and use the glitch.
2.Let`s further assume that on average the ServiceProviers are reachable for 90% of the time (It`s actually more like 98%, but we will be very generous)
3.Since Crota has been “beaten” more than 160.000 times and a Raidteam consists of 6 people we will say: There are at least 1 Million chances to draw a disconnect during 2 hours (an average Raid takes this time). If we take the 10% from above we can say: 100,000 disconnects happened during all successful Crotaraids up to this point.
So what is the probability that A DC happens randomly at the exact same time Crota goes down?
Calculation:
2*3600/5 = 1440:= potential 5 second-time units of one single player during a successful raid
1,440,000,000= for all players
Ergo
The probability that a DC happens randomly at the moment where crota goes down for any Player is
100,000/1,440,000,000 = 6,94e -5
And for the special case that this DC concerns the Host:
1,16e -5
For comparison:
The Probability of getting a Royal Flush in Poker: 2,57 e-5
Another Hopebubble busted by Math, sorry for that
EDIT 2: I will also link to a prominent youtuber (Datto) that has the same opinion as the vocal group of "It`s a cheat not a chesse" on this forum. Since he works closely with bungie you can be sure that in one way or the other Glitchers will soon befall a special "Destiny":

EDIT 3: This is how a big banwave looked in Halo:Reach (2010) courtesy of Bungie
Good evening,
We are in the process of applying credit resets to approximately 15,000 users who we have identified as the most egregious Challenge Reset abusers.
A one day credit earning ban has also been applied, mostly to ensure that recipients receive an in-game notification of the action taken.
As with any such measure, we have taken the time to carefully select our criteria to eliminate false positives.
A more comprehensive pass will be occurring in the coming week as our automated Banhammer mechanisms grow accurate enough to satisfy our high bar for burden of proof. If you are thinking about getting an easy 50k credits by using this exploit, I would strongly advise you to reconsider.
Thank you, and please direct any discussion of these resets to this thread.
Edit 1: a point of clarification. No bans were handed out tonight for
a) Playing too much Gruntpocalypse (no such thing!)
b) Using the target locator too much (no such thing!)
Specifically, we targeted an exploit that allowed players to complete a Challenge 20+ times via intentional network manipulation (i.e., disconnects.)
Spot checks have revealed the telltale signature of this behavior on every denier so far, so don't be fooled by the protests of innocence. We aren't.
Edit 2:
1) If you have lost your Legendary Helmet or any other downloadable offers, you can re-download them via your Download History. We're not sure this is affecting anyone (we haven't reproduced it internally), but just in case it is, give this a try.
2) We won't be resetting Commendations, as we do not feel that the exploit used affected them. It would not be fair to people who did use the exploit but who wish to retain the record of their playstyle, and we cannot differentiate between the two systematically. Sorry.

EDIT 4: Cheaters have officially gotten a Carte Blanche from a Studio that is a shadow of its former self
Bungie does not kick ass any more. I was a fool and the cheaters have taken over.
I will now make a thread to suggest to ban anyone in the future that tries to make a thread about banning someone.
Bungie clearly voted for the quick buck.
I hope they will live happily ever after with you and your kind.
Signing out ;-)

Why do you care what other people do? Bungie will patch this out as they were smart to wait to release hard mode because I bet they saw it coming. People cheesing this stuff while they can doesnt have any effect on your gameplay. Play how you want and stop worrying about other people. Bungie already knows. Kwesdog
-
Yes and start with that cheesing bastard Deej.
-
Can you confirm there has been a ban for infi-kneeling Crota? Best quote for the day the banhammer comes "I felt a great disturbance in the Force, as if millions of voices suddenly cried out in terror and were suddenly silenced. I fear something terrible has happened." -Ben Kenobi
-
Who cares? Crota isn't exactly easy to get to and even with the glitch the raid is a beast. I say leave it alone. If a crew is dedicated enough to get to that point then let em do it.
-
Well, it's not my fault I did it, my game actually crashed when we got him down, so we just said screw it because all of us were short on time.
-
You have made a very compelling argument, you even used math to state your point, but I think that being banned for taking advantage of their own faulty code is not enough reason to ban people, I don't think it's fair to punish people for using the loopholes that you didn't cover..I hope that Bungie won't do it again or fix the glitch like they did in the Vault of Glass.
-
I've beat him 10 times or so and never have done the cheese.. Maybe when hard comes along but for now he's easy
-
Who buddy
who cares
-
So you're saying people should be banned for the devs faults?
-
Don't mind them cheesing but I'd avoid it if possible.. because when hard mode comes around the glitch will probably be fixed and then for the people who can only cheese it there gonna have little experience beating him legit
-
You know what a much better solution then all this cheese/exploit mortality bullshit? Bungie actually QAs their raids so this shit never happens in the first place. Alternative solution: Bungie doesn't take a month to fix raid bugs when they're discovered.
-
Edited by TitanFur: 12/27/2014 9:54:16 AMShould those who cheesed get punished? Sure, and in a perfect world that would be fine, but the problem is the world isn't perfect. To punish the people who have cheesed either raid, which lets all admit it is probably a lot, would be a bad decision that would kill the community, pushing them to other games. Remember, bad post-release decisions is what killed Titanfall.

Want some pi?
-
Who cares.
-
I was in a party yesterday for the first time where I watched Crota get cheesed it was funny to watch and conversations got serious like they were doing this legit all I want from this Raid is the Hammer sniper to compare to my Icebreaker anything else I get - gear or other guns - will simply get dismantled
-
-
Not going to lie I was in a firete am the other day who did this and I found it boreing as hell I enjoyed doing it the proper way because u get the dealing that u actually deserve the loot u receive from the raid.
-
They should ban pple for asking to ban pple. It's the most basic of forum rules for many game sites
-
If they did ban us good luck.millions of us did it so if u ban us... Where are all ur players?
-
I hope they fix the cheese and reset everyone's raid gear.
-
I love how one sided this is
-
I'm sure the author of this post is guilty of one of those.
-
Just so you know you can't make a case off of probability. Yes it's improbable to happen as many times as it does, but no, you can't prove it's not an actual disconnect. That's just like sentencing a murderer to death because he was there amongst many other people and one of them has to be the murderer so you just pick him at random.
-
It violates the terms of service? I did it the first time the other night because the party I was in didn't want to do it legit or didn't know how, was pretty cheap lol
-
Bungie will have all exploits patched before pushing hard mode. No point in banning.
-
If you're going to ban people for this, you need to go back & ban half the player base for shoving the Templar & Atheon off their ledges. It'll get fixed, use the exploits or don't. It isn't PvP, you aren't cheating anyone out of anything. It really isn't a big deal.
