Some general tips:
1) Know what guns are good. Some guns are much easier to do well with than others. If you are just starting, use an Auto Rifle.
2) Know the optimal range of your primary gun. Some guns are great at range but will tend to lose up close while some guns are much better up close. Guns that are below level 20 tend to suck at longer ranges due to inaccuracy.
3) Grab the heavy ammo. A lot of the time it is free kills so you will want to learn when they drop and have a sense of when they are going to drop.
4) Know when to run away. I someone gets the drop on you, you are almost surely going to die. You might as well try to save yourself a death and try to escape rather than stubbornly try to win that gun fight.
5) When two people are aware of each other, I find that the person chasing is at a big disadvantage.
6) Stop sprinting when there are enemies around. It will take you longer to draw out your gun.
7) Make sure you are very safe before you reload, unless you really have to. Try to know about how many bullets it will take to kill someone at full health.
Some Titan tips:
1) Flashbang grenade is great for escaping. Lightning grenade is great for controlling space. Magnetic grenades are great for getting cheap kills when you know you're about to die anyways.
2) Avoid jumping too much. Jumping makes you vulnerable and highly visible.
3) I prefer to dump my armor in favour of recovery and agility. Armor has very little impact on your survivability and I prefer being able to move a tad bit quicker and be able make sharper cuts. I also like regen'ing health faster so that I can get back out of cover and start fighting again.
Overall, I would say that Titans are the weakest at Crucible. I've logged many hours doing Crucible as every class and I find that the other two classes simply have more useful tools. That said, at the end of the day Destiny is still an FPS so gun skills and situational awareness will still determine success. My main gripe about being a Titan in Crucible is that I find it to be the least fun to play.

3B- getting heavy ammo isn't a race. The entire team can get it if you just wait a second for them to get close.

If my teammates are not making an effort to make their way towards it after it's announced then I will grab it quickly. I am not going to wait wait around for people who are running past the heavy ammo after it's announced.

That's the caveat. If dots aren't getting closer, it's free game. But 90% of people sit there holding square/X like it's a race.
