Comrades, I feel that this article sums up some of the severe problems and challenges we encounter in Destiny.
A player I met recently commented to me that [b]"this game is all about GRINDING"[/b], and I'm afraid she is correct.
While it can be fun for a while, the fact that our progress in leveling is not innate to the character but to the gear we acquire - means that the hunt for acquiring and upgrading gear [b]will never end[/b].
That's a lot of hours spent.
Hmm.
Well I expect to play Destiny casually for a while until Mass Effect Next, but since I can expect to be able to simply purchase leveled armor at each expansion -there's less need to kill myself grinding away.
Maybe it's better not to play Destiny at all now and simply check back in that 10th year of the game.

I honestly don't see the light level/gear system as being the problem. I can tell it was Joseph Statens idea too. He obviously liked an older ps3/ 360 game called El Shaddai, and that's where I think he got the idea. Just one of the many things Destiny copies. The problem is that it's rng and extremely grind based. Leveling up a character is fine, but any game that dangles the carrot like this is just exploiting players. There's no choices on how to achieve top level. Level matters twice as much in Destiny than more typical games. There's also no customization. The light level system just needs some expansion and accessibility.
