I find it weird that when Destiny first came out everyone who was defending it's lack of content and lack of focus on anything from the MMO genre kept saying "IT'S NOT AN MMO!" Now everyone who is defending the HEAVY criticism of the mind numbing grind keeps saying it IS an MMO. It's not. Bungie even said several times pre-launch that it wasn't. Please use another line if you want to try to justify the grind.
If Destiny had more planets or even more areas to explore on the ones we have and there were more enemies and weapons and everything wasn't pure RNG I would be right with you still defending the grind. As it stands I've logged in once or twice since exotic resets were announced and the DLC dropped but I keep checking these forums for some faint glimmer of hope that probably won't come. I'm getting tired of the phrase "If you don't like grinding why are you playing an MMO" though. Destiny needs to find it's identity, if the players defending your game do a complete 180 your progress isn't going so well.

If it were an MMO it would have raid matchmaking

Multiplayer online? There we go!

It would be a lot better if it was an MMO though. Social features, huge raids, improved multiplayer... You name it.

It's not an mmo at all. The game does not have massive amounts of players that you interact with all the time at one time, only a select amount. It's certainly online though. However, the game DOES borrow heavily from traditional mmo's

It's an rpg with a lot of mmo like qualities in it.

It IS an mmo. If mmo stands for Most Mind-numbing Octopus-shit.
-
RNG is an mmorpg trait.

Edited by YellowToaster: 12/19/2014 3:56:35 PMDestiny is a MMO whether Bungie see's it that way or not.

Do you people not know what the acronym MMO stands for. I understand it's a large compound word for some of you but here we go. Massive-multiplayer online Just so you know not all mmos are RPGs and not all RPGs are mmos. Pretty much any game now a days falls into this mmo category. Whether it's a mmorpg or mmofps. Destiny is a mmofps, there's lots of people playing online at the same time. I can port to the tower 15 times in 5 mins and see a different set of players every time. People are confusing Mmo with mmorpg.
