Seriously, where did he go?
This is probably the most critical moment since launch. The community is splintered over the recent changes. Personally I've stopped playing Destiny for a number of reasons that I won't get into here. Just browse the forum or gaming news websites for reasons why im on a destiny hiatus.
That being said, I'm checking regularly to see if Bungie has any plans to rectify some of the terrible design choices they've made recently.
And through all this... Deej is silent.
His personal twitter has been dead silent for 4 days
He hasn't posted on the forum in days
Bungies news articles haven't addressed the issues
Bungies twitter hasn't addressed the issues
Dude. At the very least a significant chunk of the COMMUNITY is very upset and in some cases (like myself) has stopped playing without plans to come back unless changes are made. The COMMUNITY manager is AWOL.
Grab your tin foil hats. All smells fishy and gross to me.
You guys have any theories or opinions?
Edit: It seems that Deej has been active the past few days on the DestinyTheGame subreddit. Here's the link (credit to Minuscule Corgi for bringing this to my attention):

Deej is definitely aware of all the recent criticisms and that is a very good thing. Will be interesting to see if he addresses them in the weekly update today. Part of me still has hope Bungie can fix this and make me want to play again but we'll see

Edited by way455: 12/18/2014 3:42:49 PMThe one thing that killed the community the most is the negation of their former gear. They could have easily quelled this by making the dismantling of old gear (regular, raid and exotic) worth something. Getting 2 shards for gear you worked months to get and cost 18 shard to build is counter intuitive to the game. Same with the bull you need to upgrade your exotics. I never thought I would pay to have to relevel my gear just to be relavent. I know they want to lock up your time so you play more but no one wants to play more of stupid boring tasks. If my gear is leveled and I have no raids or missions on hand, I will hit the strike list. I haven't done that in weeks because I have to glimmer farm and melee someone 7 times, wtf? Here's a idea, don't tie up our time with crap and we will play MORE, not less.
-
Maybe the problem was that you made 2 hunters an no warlocks
-
Do you guys need Deej to hold your hand. You know this is the only game with a full time pr guy covering the forums. Why can't people just play the game. There is no need to complain over everything. This game kicks ass just play it.
-
He is counting all the money he is earning
-
He's probably waiting for the email from his boss about what to say next. He's a mouthpiece of the corporate front.
-
He is probably taking a few days off to spend time with his family because it's the holidays. Well earned days at that. Anyone who could manage to keep his cool and come back every week to manage this toxic community deserves a medal of honor.
-
Oh don't worry, I'm sure there will be an interview coming soon with someone that a character has been based on. You will also get a statement on how Bungie is paying special attention to our comments and concerns. Keep grinding guardian.

I figured that after TDB released that he was busy reading feedback, collecting/compiling data, and other stuff. It might be hard to believe that he cant find s minute or two to reply, but then again - if he wants good data, he might not want to influence it with his remarks, removing himself as a variable in the whole thing.
-
What recent poor design choices? Level design was better, new strikes are better, new ways to obtain mats is better... New raid is better... Drop rates are better... What's the problem here? The game is on an upward trend, consistently getting better...
-
I would say the game is getting it together even if deej is not helping in any way shape or form. Alot of people don't like the changes but people never like changes the game is a better game. Perhaps there looking for a useful person to replace deej
-
He could be on holidays or he could have nothing to post.
-
There should be another update today where he says absolutely nothing about anything.
-
I have a full time job and im on the forums more than Deej.
-
Its called the Holidays bro, paid vacation and all that... Poor guy needs a rest lol
-
He did say on a previous thread, that most of the Bungie team will take a break. I guess is holiday break.
-
The community manager, as with any game community, relays information from the community to the developers, and vice-versa. Either there is no new information to be said to the community, or he hasn't been told what to say. It's also only been 4 days? What's the big deal? You get the weekly update today, anyway, which is written by DeeJ.
-
I have been wondering the same thing. Ever since the dlc launch bungie/DeeJ have been very quite. I used to get tons of crap on Facebook, they were always saying something on Twitter and social medias. Just seems odd that there was a lot of negative feedback on this game after launch then a ton more after dlc (whether you agree with those opinions or not) and now it is just erie silence. Last weeks update was just vague blah blah blah and mentioned nothing of what is being said. Must be a lot of fist fights goin on behind the scenes lol.
-
Not having played in 3 days is hardly a hiatus, and seen as how you are currently 31 and a bit.... You've clearly put some work into the DLC. Come back in a month... Not playing for a few days is called having a life, especially around the holiday season. Crying about the current state of the game and not providing valid reasoning is lame and a search for attention. You could have easily posted this in one of the many topics that already raise "good" point. I guess this is what we get when activision pushes for a T rating... Just a bunch of teens.

In his peg, wide open!

I wrote a piece about "The Direction of Destiny" a few days ago that generated some great responses including one from DeeJ. He knows the state of the community right now and I'd be shocked if he didn't address it in today's weekly update. This could be one of the most important updates we've seen thus far. I'll be eagerly awaiting it's arrival.
-
DeeJ is the community manager, yes, but that doesn't mean he has to post on a daily basis. This isn't the first time he's been silent and it won't be the last. And honestly, even if he was talking, what would he say? Very rarely does Deej say anything other than "message recieved and passed along" and the occasional joke. This isn't entirely his fault, and I'm not blaming him. It's just the truth. In my completely personal opinion, calling DeeJ a "community manager" is not entirely accurate, considering that the only thing he does is pass along feedback. Perhaps "community "glorified telephone"" would be slightly more accurate.

I ate him
-
Probably had some kind of family emergency (I hope not) or just on a vacation from work?
-
Maybe he's spending time with his family for the holidays.
-
What would you expect him to say? He is employed by bungie, I suspect he doesn't want to give a lame answer and rather speak when an idea for the future is formulated. Or he could just have a life outside of destiny. Give him some space lol
