Just a thought for how DLC/Updates/Etc. should affect current equipment and such
1st off I feel like Bungie was hit with a confuse ray and had no idea how to split up the content or how each DLC would affect the previous equipment available to us before TDB.
I have been playing Destiny, like most of the people who probably still have this game to date, since day one, and I have to say, I love the idea of Destiny, but I don't believe I can say I love the actual game (even before the DLC hit, the many flaws that I ran into piled up quite high).
With this new DLC, as always- this is my opinion, I believe Bungie went about the whole Gear/Equipment, (of pre-DLC, including Legendary & Exotic) Stats and upgrades a fairly difficult root, and after a week of playing with The Dark Below it feels like all the mechanics being used just shows how badly they are trying to milk this DLC and all its limited content.
The new upgrading system for Exotics is great IMO, but for those who have Exotics before the DLC dropped, having to 'prestige' is a let down, and for the following reasons: Loss of Ascended material, Loss of Glitter, *cough* I mean Glimmer *cough cough*, and a huge waist of time..... oh wait... this isn't the only game that does this *shocked!*.
No really, I understand that Exotics are meant to stand above the rest, (because it's apparent we may not see anything stronger than 'Exotics' for a while :p ), an easier root for how to upgrade the pre-DLC Exotics to post would have been to just have the Exotics to be 'infused with a rare item to 'boost' it's potential to the next stage thanks to advancements made in the Research division of Golden Age technology.... (was that so hard?!!!)
Destiny is NOT the first game to follow through with this, I'm just thankful that the VexMytho (that I DONT HAVE) hasn't been out classed by a new, (oh I don't know... a orange- no, no, no, lets go with a), TDB WHITE/Normal Weapon?!?, any little thing could have happened, but Bungie gave us this new system, BE GREATFUL YOUR WEEKS OF GRINDING 1 RAID FOR THAT BIHABNGHNBSMKVGKVM GUN HAS NOT BEEN COMPLETELY WAISTED!...(I hate all who haz it...at least until I get it... grrrr)
My primary example of this would be previous Raid gear compared to Van. gear available now,... errr.... that's if Xur is your guardian angle with rnJESUS working in your favor...(BUNGIE WHY YOU MAKE IT SO HARD TO DEFFEND YOU?!!)
Being able to upgrade our current weapons and armor to 'up-to-date' max damages, Def., AND LIGHT, is a blessing even if you don't accept it. Just take a moment and wonder how you would feel if someone with a WHITE scoute/hand cannon/auto rifle/ pulse rifle were to one-shot you from over yonder while you had all your 'maxed' exotics and legendary equipment.... butt hurt over 9000 much?? (lol, that's for you MTFH mwahahaha, and Loe).
As I touched before up above... what ever that is above this sentence is... (my English teacher must be hunting me down by now),
A few way's I would have done the up-scale of the Exotics would be as said above, by using a material (OTHER THAN EXOTIC SHARDS, really... it makes little to no since that an Exotic dropped post DLC even had the pre-DLC stats (that would disgust me),
& even if that's 'too-easy', to get the higher light, there could have been an even where we go to a Hive feeding ground (where they stored the light of other (weaker than I) guardians for later use/consumption), and absorb 'the max amount we can handle for now'....( I pulled this one right out of my rear while typing that up :p)
With the DLC a LOT of things (even little things), could have made the whole experience better than what it is now.
As for the next DLC, same as above, within the new quest/bounty's there would be an area where we could go gather light to permanently infuse with our equipment to reach the newest light/damage cap.
I'll be here on Destiny up till the next DLC, (not just because I got the pass... im in college and im broke, this be the only thing I have to play when I have time! :p ), and hopefully Bungie will get this next one perfect.
