And you're right as far as micro transactions being foul, and greed hurting gaming.
I will say that it's not a new development, though. I used to drop my whole allowance at those arcades moments after finishing the chores I did to earn it. Video games in arcades were designed to take quarters as quickly as possible. Probably why I learned to love pinball so much.
Also, I remember putting money down on Pac-Man for the Atari 2600, and saving for it for weeks. It wasn't cheap, either. Probably still my greatest gaming letdown, up there with Syphon Filter 3 and Manhunt 2.
Old days were rad, but things haven't changed a whole lot when it comes to greedy publishers IMO

Your 100% right. Things don't get made if there isn't a profit to be had. Gaming was expensive then too.
