So in Halo, since you have a shield, the flood can't really infect you that fast, but Elites die instantly (or in great numbers) despite their shields.

Not sure which Halo we're talking about, but I know in Halo 3 that's not the case. Elites are protected from the flood by their shield.

What I mean is have you ever played the library on halo CE? Or any other flood map. Tons of elite floods. Wouldn't their shields protect them better than that? Like I'd imagine there would be like 5x more human flood.

If you've played the Covenant mission in Halo 3 on Legendary, you'd see that the infection forms all just jump on an elite and take his shields down and then infect him.

Well, elite's shields aren't quite as effective but I see what you mean.
