Why did you hire Anita Sarkeesian? Why politicize a highly anticipated game like mirrors edge 2? We all know that Faith is a strong female character and their were no complaints, no ridicule, no sexism to be found when that game released. I don't even recall anyone making sexual comments about her. You guys tell me, am I wrong in stating that the first Mirror's Edge was an under advertised niche title? Was it not the gaming hobbyist that routinely checks gaming websites that mostly bought and played that game? It had to be, right? I mean that's how I found out about the title, that's how I knew I wanted to play it. Is this not the exact same community that Sarkeesian used blatant out of context videos to claim we are misogynistic? This is sensationalism people. EA could have hired any other person for this type of consultation. Many other people that were most likely more qualified for this job (other feminists even). You hired her for the name. To stir the pot. I'm disappointed because I was looking forward to this game. But make no mistake, it won't bother me to miss it. Their are so many good games coming out these days it really is a hard decision every time I walk into the store. What EA has done is give the community an Ultimatum. The gaming scene has a lot of bad press floating around out there and a game like Mirrors Edge 2 could've proved them all wrong. Strong sales would have proved that "hey, I don't care if it's a female, a strong female, a sillynanny male, as long as the game is good." Instead we have a situation where if the game does sale, anita sarkeesian is validated on merits that she does not possess. If it doesnt, well then it's because gamers are misogynists and cue the shitstorm of another push for "equality" (censorship) in videogames. I will not buy this game.I will not be goaded into this media ploy. I was not sexist when the first game came out. I played it, I enjoyed it, I shared it with my friends and wife, I asked for another. I will not play the second, not because I suddenly have a problem with Faith and her femininity, but because I refuse to be manipulated.
