There is a lot more to the DLC than just the story missions. There is a raid, 3 multiplayer maps, and loads of new weapons and armor.
You have a very different understanding of what "a lot more" means than most other people. 1 more raid, 2 more strikes (1 for xbox), 3 PvP maps (one less for Xbox), and honestly not that much more weapons and armor do not feel like big numbers to people. But hey, maybe the problem is because everyone is comparing Destiny to every other game on the market as far as what "a lot" of content means or from other games that have used the term "expansion" instead of just DLC. Maybe for Destiny, it is "a lot" of content considering how little there was in the main game, comparatively I guess it is a lot.
I get the feeling like people just want to bad-mouth Destiny because it's the "in" thing to do. Many of the people who are bashing this game for it's lack of content have well over 100+ hours played, it's just mind boggling that getting 100 hours of play isn't enough for some people.
I see this counter-point a lot. The problem with it is it's a meaningless statistic like the number of people playing the game. Destiny is specifically made to take a lot of time to play. Upgrading weapons, leveling past 20, weekly missions. Xur showing up every weekend. All of this is designed to force players to spend a lot of time playing just to get what they feel their money's worth is. A lot of people play games to be a completionist and Destiny makes it extremely frustrating for those people with RNG all over the place forcing a much longer playthrough. A lot of people play Destiny more as a daily chore then a fun activity at this point. So your "100+" hours point really means nothing. The game's central mechanics are just enjoyable enough to make the chore of it not torture and thus keeps people coming back but to say it's worth the money is ridiculous. I could play a ten minute game 1000 times that cost $1.00. That doesn't mean that ten minute game was worth the dollar just because I played the shit out of it.

  • Which games have more content in their DLC than Destiny? COD - No Titanfall - No BF4 - No TLoU - No Ah so all these people that are complaining about the game and putting in hundreds of hours are just completionists and won't be happy until they get all the achievements....give me a break.

First of all, 3 of those were first person shooter games in which the DLC is mappacks. The last of us actually did get a pretty substantial DLC in that story about Ellie and her best friend. Secondly, when comparing the amount of content to the game they are in, actually no, every one of those games had more content for less money. I'll assume you're talking about Ghosts for COD since no map pack has come out yet for Advanced Warfare. Ghost's DLC maps introduced usually 4 maps each and extinction content. So even in a direct multiplayer to multiplayer comparison Ghost out contents Destiny. Each of Titanfall's DLC map packs contained 3 maps (like Destiny) but also costs half the price, and there were 3 packs. So that's 9 maps for $30 compared to the 6 for $40 (assuming House of Wolves also has 3 multiplayer maps) if we're again comparing strictly multiplayer to multiplayer. Battlefield 4 is a hard no to your statement. The first DLC, "China Rising" added 4 new maps, new weapons, and new vehicles. The second DLC "Second Assault" added 4 maps, new weapons and vehicles. The next DLC, "Naval Strike" added 4 more maps, again more weapons and vehicles and some gadgets. Then "Dragon's Teeth" another 4 maps and new weapons. Lastly, "Final Stand" which added yet another 4 maps, new weapons, and new vehicles. That's 5 DLC packs compared to Destiny's 2, each at $15 which is $5 cheaper then Destiny's "expansion". Since you picked predominantly multiplayer player games to compare Destiny's DLC content too I gave you a predominantly multiplayer focused comparison. If we want to start comparing single player DLC content with other games in the market it wouldn't even be a contest.
Ah so all these people that are complaining about the game and putting in hundreds of hours are just completionists and won't be happy until they get all the achievements....give me a break.
No, I said "a lot of people who play games" are completionists, not that everybody here who complains here is one. Nor is that a reason to dismiss people's criticism even if they were. The problems exist whether or not people care about completing the game.

Of all the games out there, you were able to find four that give you less content in their DLC than Destiny. Congrats. And I'm really not sure about TLoU.

I chose four of the most popular games out as examples. I can easily go on about games that don't have as much content in their DLC's. I like how you ignored the question right at the beginning of my post though. Which games have more content in their DLC than Destiny?

Read the rest of the thread. There are A LOT. Going back as far as Half-Life 2 Episode 1.

  • Then it should be easy for you to come up with the list. So far you haven't even come close to showing how Destiny's DLC is so far behind every other game on the market. Also, you haven't been able to come up with ONE single game from the last year that comes close to Destiny's DLC.

  • Then post 4 recent ones with more DLC content available Sherlock

Everybody has been, Watson, do I need to run down the list for your benefit or are you capable of reading the rest of the thread. Any Bethesda title for starters. Any Borderlands title. Any FROM title. Any Valve title. Pretty sure that the Sims gives you more content and thats basically a scam. So why don't we play those? Good question. Asking myself that recently. I still can't get away from that you are saying we deserve less for our money. That Destiny couldn't do better than a bunch of bounties on existing geometry, the addition of a new currency just to make things even more grindy, and a short raid that completely obliterated any reason to do the other one. A major expansion. Indeed.

  • Are you talking about the season passes in Borderlands, or are you talking about each individual DLC within the season pass? Season pass was $30 no? The $20 DLC for Destiny comes pretty darn close to matching that, and if you bought the expansion pass $35 for Destiny I have no doubts that The Dark Below + House of Wolves will have much more content than the Borderlands 2 DLC. Also, you could only think of Bethesda games and Borderlands? Hrm....and how many of those games are available on the new systems?

  • Really? Borderlands the Pre-sequel already has a DLC pack out? I didn't realize that because I havn't played it, it is only offered on a last gen system and I am not buying games for a system that has been replaced until they go into 20 dollar GOTY editions......I was a HUGE fan of borderlands 1 and 2 though, played both with all the season passes, great games, but they didn't change much from 1 to 2 besides the characters and the guns. Any Bethesda title..... what have they released in the last 6 months for either Xbone or PS4?

So your argument is that because there isn't a lot of content for current-gen systems, they can charge more for however little they produce? Regardless of how much you would get for the same amount of money on previous gen or another platform? Wow. Great. I can tell that there is nothing I can say will convince you that releasing this miniscule DLC 3 months after the game was panned for being pretty but shallow was a bad deal. You must really enjoy Destiny to have this much invested in them.

  • No, I am saying you have nothing to compare your idea of a "lack of content" to, there are no exp packs or DLC out yet for anything comparable. Don't get me wrong, Destiny has it's flaws, one of them being the story being a weak. I too expected a lot more but Bungie had a great track record with the Halo franchise and I am going to give it some time. I bought the season pass and will play it out and make my decision then, but what I won't do is sit here and cry on the forums and talk about how I got screwed or I am owed something. I have got my 80 bucks worth out of this game and more. Just an example: I have played about 8 hours of the exp pack/DLC so far. In that time I have completed the story missions(still have the urn quest line to complete due to Xur just showing up today), done one daily heroic, the Nightfall and the weekly heroic, Got 3 new pieces of vanguard gear and upgraded one exotic with Xur on my Titan(lvl 30, almost 31), on my Hunter(lvl 29) I upgraded an exotic and got 3 new pieces of Vanguard gear as well, in addition to this I got the new upgraded versions of Ice Breaker and Thorn, plus got 3 new weapons: Truth(from Xur), the LDR 5001 sniper rifle(in a cryptarch packages for repping up) and Murmur(quest reward). And now I have about 15 dailies to do split between two characters and still have 83 strange coins and 43 motes of light to spend......... Most of the guys in our guild have and are having the same experiences so I think we must play differently, but to me, that is a pretty nice content progression. Yeah it's a bit of a grind but all these games are, it's certainly not as bad as Wow or Everquest. Just my thoughts. Go ahead and add me or any of us and come join us for some fun if ya want. Cheers.
