Reflections of a Cheesed off Guardian
We were told they were listening. We thought they would learn from their mistakes. The DLC has shown us that Bungie are not listening and didn't learn from their mistakes.
The ‘story’ missions took about an hour to complete. That’s peanuts! They were set for the most part in the same old places and we found ourselves fighting the same old enemies. This 'expansion' feels more like an 'event'.
Chill out! What's the problem?
This game lacks content, variety, and volume. It feels empty. Don’t get me wrong, the shooting and graphics are awesome. But the lack of content and variety within this game make the grind unbearable. I enjoy RPGs. I don’t mind the grind (provided there is plenty of content), but in Destiny, the grind is a miserably, depressing joke. Not even Crota's scrota finds it funny.
It is a hollow of a game. No wonder players began by shooting into a hole. It has the potential to be awesome but fails to deliver with the story and the variety of content. The grind would be almost bearable if they had given us 6 new PvP maps, 5 new strikes, 10 new story missions.
Instead, they gave us rehashed missions in places we've already played with the odd additional space and minimal story telling.
A Box of Chocolates
If I buy a box of the finest chocolates, I expect the box to be full with delicious chocolate treats. When I get half a box of mouldy chocolate pieces, I'm not happy and throw a hissy fit. When I buy a video game that promises so much but gives so little, I feel cheated of my money. Bungie, where's my chocolate?
Positives
Okay, so perhaps I'm being a bit negative. It is not all doom and gloom. Over the past few months Bungie have added a lot of the ideas promoted by players and game reviews. The new missions, though brief and largely in the same old places, were fun to play. Killing Urzok the Hated with three other random Guardians was a barrel of laughs. And the last part of the Urn of Sacrifice quest was epic. I was hoping for more playable content to make the grind more enjoyable.
Objections and Answers
Objection 1: ‘Stop crying and play another game’. Answer: Look, I do love this game. The shooting and graphics are awesome. I just feel the game has failed us in so many ways with regard to story, variety and volume of content. It has so much potential but feels so empty. Also ... I have a right to voice my opinion. Google 'freedom of speech'. If you don't agree with what I say, don't just tell me to zip it, give me reasons why you think I'm wrong.
Objection 2: 'You guys complain about not enough new content, but then you don't want to do the new content when provided'. Answer: The content provided is the same old grind, killing the same old enemies, in the same old places ... sure great new content. #DoubleSpeak
Objection 3: 'I thought we got a fair bit of DLC for our money' (yes, people are seriously saying this). Answer: Compare the Destiny expansion with the expansions of Skyrim and Oblivion (they were huge!). Destiny has fallen short of the standard set by last gen games. Don't get me wrong, the game is good. The shooting is engaging and the graphics are beautiful. I simply expect more content to ease the monotony of the grind and make it more interesting and enjoyable. I don't get why people are opposed to the idea of more playable content. It is weird.
Objection 4: ‘Quit whining and hating on Destiny’. Answer: In fact, I love this game. I want to see it get better and realise its potential. Surely you want the same?
Objection 5: ‘Don’t comment till you've done the raid’. Answer: That is another can of worms. A social based game like Destiny should include within itself the in-game mechanics to encourage social activity. Where is the in-game LFG forum for making teams to do the raid? Seems like a glaring omission to me. Even so, why can’t I comment on the story missions and the strike when I've played them?
Objection 6: 'It is more DLC than what CoD usually offers'. Answer: The problem is FPS CoD players don't see how empty this expansion is compared with what MMO and RPG players have come to expect from expansions. Destiny is a strange hybrid ... a jack of all trades ... Given the MMO/RPG aspects, I thought the expansion would substantially add to the game's playable content to make the grind more enjoyable. I think that this was a fair expectation.
LIKE and BUMP if you agree.
Thanks for all the support! Cheers Guardians!
600+ likes and a load of bumps!!

i like Destiny i just wished the content they added had more , if Bungie continues like this, this game will be dead before March 2015

Playing the story mode just confirmed that the decision was made to pull story missions from the original launch and package them into the DLC. I'm guessing this was done to save dev money while justifying DLC pricing. And the thing that actually upsets me is that there has literally been no work done to incorporate the Dark Below story into a larger narrative structure or even try to hide the fact that they straight ripped this mission out of the game and made you pay for it again. I'm supposed to believe that Rasputin has been playing that music for three months and I'm just now able to save him? Or that, at the end of the mission, the screens flash that repeated teasing images of planets your guardian will be visiting and ends with an image of a Vex goblin. Why would we need a teaser after we met the Vex? As weird as this sounds, I'd be less disappointed in the DLC if it were the Crucible maps and Croata's End right now.

Edited by Just Dave Man: 12/12/2014 3:48:34 AMHave to agree it is a total rip. What annoys me is that Bungie charged US $20 and also 20 whatever currency outside the US which is often pushing towards double the price the US has to pay. (Apple hit big trouble for that a few years ago and had to reduce the price of their tracks in the UK to 79p instead of their $1/£1 model.) So for those people outside of the US its more of a rip. The things Im most frustrated by are: 2 incredibly short selectable story missions is astonishingly poor for DLC content. It makes very little sense that you cannot do the Fist Of Crota mission again. Using the patrol areas as filler time for the Warmind story was ridiculous. That mission was essentially just a tiny final checkpoint of what other games would offer in their missions. Essentially the mission is just 2 rooms! 3 pvp maps isn't much and its bad form to only offer the campiest of modes instead of Control which is definitely the flagship mode for this game. I say Clash is campy because its just 2 teams sitting looking at a door way waiting for the other team to get impatient or its a bunch of Patience and Times sat around the edge of Skyshock just like the moon map (Even Control probably wont save this map from hatred as its just like the Moon map in size and sniped spawns) Just generally the games maps in the normal modes are very few and they aren't exactly great and well balanced maps. I definitely feel that some of the Skirmish maps would work really well for the 6v6 modes. I hope Bungie bring these new maps into a full map rotation option soon with all of the maps so people get less bored. Still hope they balance the Firebase Delphi map better and change the B flag on Blind Watch back to how it was too but that's a different issue. VoG gear should be readjusted and the VoG should be upped a notch now the gear you can buy takes you over 30. There is basically no point in old raid gear when you get the stuff from the shops or new raid gear and this is a problem with light levels. It really takes away any personalisation when all level 30's looked the same basically.

Whole BUNIGIE = JOKE!!!!!!!!!!!! GREED does weird things to a company and its a shame they went with Activision

Edited by NotGaming: 12/12/2014 3:01:32 PMThe game controls and graphics pretty average. There is nothing special about them that warrants such praise, but I guess when the game itself is so lame, that's all anyone can say about it that is positive. "The game has no story, and is an especially mindless, repetitive grind, but you can move around and jump pretty easily, and things explode in pretty lights when you shoot them. $500 million well spent."
-
This is not an "expansion." It is hardly an "add-on," and should never have cost half of what it did to purchase. The expansion pass should include more "expansions" at this point because it was a complete rip-off. I'd settle for a reasonable refund on our respective gaming platform store. This has happened before, although under different circumstances: http://www.eurogamer.net/articles/2014-12-08-game-of-thrones-and-tales-from-the-borderlands-see-price-cut-on-ps4

Could everyone stop calling it DLC. It was unlockable content as it was already on the disc (which makes it worse IMHO) There was no download so how can it be downloadable content??
-
i agree wholeheartedly, i regret buying this game, sadly i bought the digital version expecting this game to be massive, couldn't be more wrong. my brother even bought the season pass to top it off (we share games). ill play it from time to time for now and drop it when i've got some of my moneys worth from it after the second DLC is out. i guess it wont be more than a week. never buying a bungie product again.

Edited by DeadlyByDesign: 12/12/2014 1:13:12 PMLove the game,.... Here is the kicker though. No way in hell am I buying any DLC until there is more story and thought put into the world. I let them away with it on launch (albeit begrudgingly) in the absolute blindingly optimistic belief that there would be an awesome story in TDB. I mean why would there not be? You have an elder Hive god with an army of malevolent beings hell bent on an earth invasion to finish us off and bring about the next dark age. You have a returning POW from the hellmouth, hell bent on revenge being the only survivor her raid. I mean on paper that is pretty exciting with a lot of room for exposition. Think about all the urgency this should bring and the imminent threat of an invasion force. I had imagined the skies blackening as hive drop ships encroached on the sky watch, Last ditch efforts as Crota himself was made whole and took to the battlefield. Thrall surges in the tower. Correct me if I am wrong (have not played it yet), all we get is a couple of sentences from Eris, 2 strikes (1 if you are on Xbox)over rehashed terrain and a couple of PVP maps? I would also like to remind every one that this is coming from the same people resposible for the Halo story line....
-
GUYS WE ARE LISTINING to all the cry babys about nerfing and then making the game unfair by selling overpriced plc :3
-
I've given up hope. Bungie has enough people on a clenched fist that they can get away with shit like this. The only way to enjoy this game is by getting enough friends that you make your own experience. If you try to enjoy the game on your own, it will be a miserable lonely road that will make the content even worst. The name of the beast is "Grind". That is all that this game has to offer... That is the only reason that most players log all of these hours in. That is why Bungie keeps coming up with ways to screw your progress and force you to grind AGAIN... The best way to enjoy Destiny? Don't expect anything from it... Lol, Not even gear because RNGSUS must find you worthy for loot.
-
My thoughts exactly. The gameplay is phenomenal, but there's no game to play.
-
Edited by reece22345: 12/12/2014 3:01:12 PMThe bounty story idea was lazy design and we all knew it was probably going to suck before it even came online. It basically just forced us into the tower for 30 seconds before we could do the next mission. I enjoy the game but you know what - I'm not getting Destiny 2 on launch day now to see how people react. You have a limited window to restore this community's faith in you Bungie, and if you say you're listening, and you can see there's an issue we will respect you a whole lot more if you acknowledge the mistakes and MORE importantly, act on them. The most recent weekly update was a good example of POOR communication and it needs to be rectified moving forward. I have read countless ideas that, quite frankly, are orders of magnitude better than "wait while ghost decrypts door" or "grind 6 20 minute strikes for a whole week" and "here another set of rehashed bounties today". Destiny 2 has to shine and you get one opportunity, and one only, or you'll watch your amazing new IP crash and burn quicker than you can say "Guardian down".

Driven anew. - old
You have your own opinion and I have mine. I couldn't care less about a story, I DO NOT play for the story unless it's a linear game. Bungie has been listening to feedback that is out of the question. Does that mean everything we say will be implemented? No but there is a chance. I stand my ground on loving this game since Beta, and I will be damned if you or anyone else get in the way of that. Rock on Bungie. -
they mis-labeled it. yet again bungie over hyped the launch of DLC by calling it an expansion. If they'd have called it DLC and dropped the price, plus un-bundled the PVP maps and sold them seperately Id have been a much happier guardian. The story doen't tie in, or expand, or interact in any way with the main story line. The Eris story is interesting enough, but it doesn't justify the price of the DLC. That and no cinematics, apart from the launch one, and ghost doesn't say a thing during any missions, making me feel disconected from the missions, making it more of the same, kill shit missions. there are more exotics, and items, and vendors stock new stuff, but everyone gets them 230 items added to a DB is alot, but where is the added value in having those items to me available to everyone? Did I just pay for the Queens Wrath 2.0 event? It certainly wasn;t expansive, 2 new corridors filled with enemies and a strike that as soon as comes up, I will quit out of it. As I have said many times before the launch of DLC, the content hangs on the raid. I have not played the raid yet, but i'm sure that I will be underwhelmed by the experince given the astounding lack of new story missions in the "expansion". I am disapointed, but not surprised, given that this is not the same Bungie that created the Halo series. I pre-ordered this game based off of E3 2013 and the Bungie "Pedegree". Played the Beta, and was annoyed that i could play through the content there in a few hours. I should have noped the blam out there, but I listened to my peers saying that it will have much more content. As a fan of this game, I am confused as to why it itsn;t actually better than an average game. if expansion 2 comes this sparsly populated with new added content, then the 10 year franchise will be a resounding failure. I for 1 an waiting for reviews of a D2 and it better be 9/10 for me to by it a full price. It better have more and varied content (read cohesive story, and better story missions) and not be a total of 6-8 hours play time. Maybe i;m disapointed that they used the dlc to cash and distract us from the problems of the game with glitter and mis-direction instead of fixing the issues that have been there since day 1. ie the story not making sense. its barely the bones of a plot. sorry for the wall of text, but am really upset that I pre-ordered this game, and bought an expansion pass. :(

Wow! New and original!
-
I like it. Worth 100 bucks to me
-
Agree
-
The main issue isn't the content even though yes it is recycled mostly there were a few new areas opened up. I Don't even have an issue with the lack of story. It's an fps not many have had an omg wow story to them. My biggest issue is that some noob can find an exotic or buy a piece of vanguard or crucible armor and it better fresh than mine is maxed out. I earned the raid armor and exotics that I have and now because ur programmers want to be lazy I have to pay for it by now paying over 7 grand in glimmer and exotic shard and that exotic just to get something that by all rights I've allready earned and spent rescorses on. I'm pretty shure that's called extorsion and it's not only morally wrong but legally as well. But hey it's just digital code no real material value right? WRONG it's my time stolen from me. I enjoyed the hell out of this game even when raid glitches prevented my team and I from making that clean run with no deaths but I have since deleted it and have in fact moved on. I mean he'll even when warframe screwed up or had to change something they kept it fair and anything lost was reimbursed. So good by destiny I would highly suggest pulling ur head out of ur butt or u won't be in business much longer.
-
We heard them. They wanted more. And this is what we are tryiny to do. We are giving them more. Or some shit like that in the trailer.
-
I will start by saying this, I love destiny I do find it to be a lot of fun. Now with that said I won't be playing it any more. Why? Simple because they have locked out the daily and weekly missions and will probably soon lock out crucible as well. They are forcing their players to buy the dlc to make more money and no matter who you are or how ignorant you are that's inexcusable. Could I go and buy the dlc right now, yes, but I wont. Sadist thing is I was planning on buying it too till they started making all these changes just because of new dlc content. I don't know about anyone else but I have never seen that before. Requiring their player to buy the dlc to play the game. You can argue that their is still plenty to do or just stop whining and buy the dlc but that's not the point. How they are doing things is the point. No company should lock out key features of their game just to make more money and force players to buy their dlc. Add the new content, add a new section for those special missions but don't lock out features that where part of the game to begin with to make more $$$$. If I'm wrong about anything or my point is invalid please I want a bungie admin to get on here or make a public announcement explaining why they have done what they and why it is truly necessary to require their players to buy the dlc.
-
True. Also very lovable how they are screwing up those who didn't pay for this shit. Disgusting in many ways. Bungie got to my no-no list.
-
I get why most people don't like the doc but I personally love it. I finally have new gear to level and new exotics to play with ( and some old ones I still need to get ) and I have the new raid to run weekly and 2 new strikes in the rotation
-
Edited by Stubbernaut: 12/12/2014 3:27:01 AMCompletely agree. I wouldn't even be so disappointed if the DLC (not expansion, since that implies more than 2 hours of gameplay) was advertised truthfully. The fact that Bungie, a company I know and love, has to resort to underhand and misleading tactics, bordering on false advertising but I'm sure calculatedly within the law, is what makes me the most disappointed. Grow some balls. For a huge, well off company with a big, but now pissed off consumer base, no one would be anywhere near as annoyed if you just started to tell the truth. If you advertised the DLC as 3 multiplayer maps, a raid and some extra bounties and reruns through similar areas, I might even still have bought the DLC. The way you sell it now will draw in some people, including me, but you'll piss off so many more people in the long run. Better yet, split it into a Raid/Eris DLC and a multiplayer DLC that both cost $5-10 each. If these two DLCs don't have enough content, then that's Bungie's fault for trying to -blam!-ing rip off your customers. All you have to do is spread some real, useful information. Don't send out Deej to tell some half/incomplete truths anymore. As a LoL player for a couple year now, going on the Riot website is a refreshing burst of transparency from the clear as mud Destiny updates. Next time the Iron banner comes, say things like your armour rating will correlate to a boost of 10 to your hit points, which originally start at 120, instead of stupid vague shit like "this time, defense will matter". Tell us what armour ratings do. Tell us exactly what recovery does. Tell us the actual numbers of how attack rating affects how we damage higher level enemies. Give us reasons why you changed the exotic upgrade path, don't just leak some info through gameinformer. If these reasons were actually good things, trying to better the game, rather than dirty money grubbing, then you would halve the rage you have on the forums EVERY SINGLE -blam!-ING UPDATE. Just tell the goddamn truth Bungie, or you'll lose all your integrity, make Destiny 2, and no one will come back for it, not because it's a bad game, but because they HATE YOU.

I like it , but it upsets me that after all Us real people that hv been here from start can be easily beaten to gear buy noobs that just started the game two weeks ago , I must hv bad luck rolling destinys dice lol
