Port forwarding can always be an issue, especially if you have a moderate or strict NAT type. Opening the ports allows internet traffic to flow freely. Try using this site to open the ports. I had issues with my 360 a while ago and doing this solved all issues. I actually just did this with my XBONE to see if it helps with my occasional issues.
