I am amazed at the amount of ignorance and selfishness on the forums. DLC owners are defending locking out Non-DLC owners because they think they are just whining for free stuff. This isn't an "either or" issue, the solutions presented on the forums will not hurt DLC owners, nor will it hand out free content to anyone.
NO ONE IS ASKING FOR FREE ACCESS TO DLC CONTENT.
The solution of having playlists for daily/weekly/nightfall game play modes that are tailored to the content you have purchased is simple. Give each player access to the content they her/she has paid for.
Now with an example data driven solution! Code and all!
http://www.bungie.net/en/Forum/Post/83870272/0/0/1
The Nightfall is NOT content, it is a game play mode. Just like Control is a game play mode. Just like Patrols are a game play mode. Bungie applies a game play mode to a strike and that is what we play. The answer is not to lock game play modes, but to apply them to the content that someone has already purchased.
Yes, this would require some actual work by Bungie devs, and it will mean that DLC owners and Non-DLC owners could possibly have different strikes marked as the Nightfall at times. Who cares? They absolutely have the mechanism to prevent you from being rewarded more than once, they just need to implement it.
As far as rewards go, I am completely fine if DLC owners get a higher tier of rewards than Non-DLC owners. Make each "playlist" have it's own loot tables. DLC play list gets the new gear and or more coins, I am still ok with that.
Guardians need to stand together on this issue. Not only is Bungie pushing people away, they are discouraging people from buying the DLC, not giving them incentive to buy it. As DLC owners, you should want MORE players picking up the expansion, not less.
For those who think this is only for one week, you are mistaken. This will happen every day and week that DLC content is chosen as the weekly/daily/nightfall.
Anyone thinking of Trolling, GTFO. People aren't whining about content, it is about the removal of game play modes for week(s) at a time. If you take a minute to consider the solution, what negatives come from limiting the content rather than the game play modes.
Comments are open, I'd love to see the community come together on this one.

I M O. I agree with you that not being able to complete areas of the game once the dlc was out is not a way to get non-dlc players to buy the dlc. First off I personally find the dlc over-priced. It's not that I can't afford to buy it, it's I dont want to pay that much for it. In the days of Halo dlc it was 800 if not more M$ points to buy the dlc. Now if we look at Bungie dlc's they are around $10. Activision dlc's are around $15. Now we look at Destiny and it's $20. So both company's end up making money from the dlc in Destiny. Unfortunately a small amount of gamers that have the dlc will troll and say buy buy buy. As time goes on and gamers continue to pay more and more for dlc and add-ons the developers will continue to charge more. Some will buy and some will not and that is the way it will be. But blocking original sections is in no way "good business" when gamers could play all the time before the dlc. Now just imagine that if all of a sudden they decide to put the dlc on sale and or package it at a lower price they will upset a whole lot of gamers that bought the dlc already. But that is a whole different ball-game. And if we look back at the Halo series games Bungie did have different playlists for dlc and non-dlc gamers so they already have the "code" needed to separate them. Cheers

You do know that when the game gets patched that all players can obtain dlc items through drops, like weapons and armor. You just can't purchase from xur or the merchants to get gear. So while you may miss out a mission or two it's not too bad I think
-
Bungie is all about robbing you for shit already on your disc. I'm pissed I bought this lame pass. Have to wait for House of Lame to be released and then it's -blam!- off Bungievision forevers. If it says -blam!-ing Bungie or Activision on it and has a price tag, I'll laugh my -blam!-ing ass off.
-
The idea doesn't matter. It's all about marketing. If you don't have dlc you have to miss your weeklies every now and then (marketing). You can't get certain special gear(marketing) you won't look as good(marketing). Even down to the Blade of Crota on the earth and moon, that knight is marketing. All of these things are marketing techniques. Does it lock you out of pre dlc content? No. Doesn't it hinder your development though? Yes. That's the goal

Start by saying - I completely whole hearted agree with this POST! Anyone ever think of this. Ban. Yep. When Bungie bans players. What happens? They can't play destiny. There are a lot of temporary bans. Especially in COD and Destiny for pvp offenses. I say this because ACTIVISION OWNS THAT AZZ. So. In context. Vanilla game owners-renters. Are temp banned for a day here a week there. Hmmmm. Everyone think for a moment about that RNG thought process of "punishment" or as some Dlc owners "entitlement".... This as a moral stand point in games. {Yes I said moral}. Is a new low in gaming. I own the expansion pass. Call me cursed or lucky. Whatever side of the fence you may be on. We can all skip the question of, is Destiny a good game, or is the Dlc worth it etc. The point is. Every blaming time I see the weekly and daily heroic content locked from all vanilla game owners-players. It actually makes me turn away from the game. Where are my friends? Where are my guardians I have built a bond with to tackle this nightfall!? Ohhhh. They were told go to there room and they can't play this week! Not just today. Bungie momma slapped my FRIENDS and did something like a ban. You no play all week. Come on Bungie activision. You guys. Yeah you -_- your all suspects. FIX THIS SH1T. And to any little focker about to say quit playing to me for my opinion. I did. For more then a month when Dlc hit. This might support my feelings on this topic. Peace guardians *
new Eula for Dlc , scratches head hmmmmm? Goes to tower. Ohhhh!!
I think it's disgusting that they locked you guys out of previously accessible content. They should be embarrassed... This isn't the Bungie I grew up with.
-
Edited by Enderium: 1/29/2015 6:35:14 PMI didnt realize the nightfall was the same for non-dlc owners aswell, and that they couldn't play Omnigul! -blam!-ing Bungie man... I feel bad for you guys, but be happy Omnigul isnt being shoved down your throat like a fish drinks water.
-
Edited by Dasvadanya55: 1/29/2015 5:24:33 PMOh my goodness this again? Just give it a rest guys. Clearly Bungie is not listening to this request, and why should they? What they've done is the industry standard in MMO's. WoW has heroic daily dungeons you can do for extra rewards. When a new expac comes out, if you don't upgrade to it, you lose access to that particular game mode. You can still play the dungeon itself, it's just no longer on their daily heroic playlist. That's literally exactly the same thing Bungie has done here. If you don't like it, find a new game because it's not going to change.
-
looks like you were not only correct but under estimated just how frequently bungie would do this. I say shame on bungie, they have lessened themselves.
-
Yes, the Nightfall is a game play mode. But that game play mode requires CONTENT...and there is only ONE strike per week. So (even though I did buy the DLC) I don't get to PICK which strike I want to play as the Nightfall on a given week. If I don't LIKE the one that Bungie has provided..I either have to suck it up and do it anyway, or pass on doing it that week. More over---even as a paying customer----I was locked out of doing it until I was high enough level, and locked out of doing it this week until I had unlocked it by progressing far enough into the DLC content. Bottomline, you were simply INCONVENIENCED by not having the DLC...and no one ever promised you that you would never be inconvenienced. The only way that Bungie could avoid that would be to make a SEPERATE Nightfall playlist for EVERY expansion they come out with. Since some people won't buy any of them...some all of them. Others some, and not others. ...and why should Bungie do that simply to benefit people who are not PAYING them any additional money??
-
I bought dlc and I agree but it's just one week
-
But rayde2three or riot
-
I cant bump this enough . You put Bungie to shame, there is no valid argument yet produced that supports bungie's exclusion of players from existing modes of play. well apart from bungie using them as a cudgel to force players to hand over more monies. thank you Phuzakie
-
It wouldn't have botherd so many people if there was actually stuff to do. Take away daily, weekly and nightfall and you left with bounties, crucible( which most people dislike, and raid)
-
I look at non dlc owners as inferior guardians. Much like hunters

Edited by Phuzakie: 12/11/2014 10:54:40 PMSo to put to rest how complicated it would be to select a different playlist dependent upon a users platform and highest level of content pack purchased, I offer the following code. I have been for this from the start. There is absolutely no reason why non DLC players should not have access to a weekly and nightfall, and daily quest which they may participate in. I even stated before. They have not used the ps exclusive strike to exclude xbox players from weeklies. Why make a move trying to force players to make a purchase, when the end result will likely be those players will stop playing.

Edited by AwesomePossum50: 12/12/2014 6:49:03 PMThat's stupid, one week where people who didn't buy DLC can't do Nightfall has people crying? Really? I just find that kind of sad. I didn't read your whole post, though, since I assumed much of it would be as stupid as the first bit. EDIT: I'm saying the OP is a stupid person, just that this idea is not reasonable. I read the rest of the post also, and found it was only slightly better than I had thought. There aren't even any good arguments... Do you really think Bungie will work more for the people who refuse to pay them any more? Also, flamers, please shut up. I honestly can't believe you guys take offense from something even the OP shouldn't have taken offense from. Everybody has less than likely ideas once in a while, if people seriously act like this every time they share one of their stupid ideas, it's really pretty sad. I'm done with you guys.

:O work! Bungie can't do that! They have to let other people do it for them

Edited by Jio: 12/11/2014 7:30:01 PMNon-DLC players should have been given another nightfall/heroic. Dlc players would only get the expansion weeklies while the Non-DLC players get the non-expansion weeklies. The way they did it now pretty much guarantees that Destiny will not last 10 years. I dislike this, and I bought the expansion pass. We need more people playing, not less. This game also confuses me because it's the only one that actually gives me a limit to how much I can progress per week. I eventually have to stop playing til the next week, which is so odd. I want to keep going; I don't want to be held down by mark/glimmer limits, limited vanguard bounties, limited raid reward and no guaranteed reward for every public event. Or still getting Rares and uncommons from the weekly Heroic and nightfall. Like....why? It's just so odd at how unrewarding the game feels, so when I finally get fitting reward (despite being meager) it's not even exciting. I still like the game though. I have people to suffer with now, so that makes it bearable.

Edited by xnbkcbc: 12/12/2014 3:26:15 PMIt's not a bad idea, IF it could be implemented easily. I just don't think they think it is worth the effort however. Edit---and obviously, no one thinks this will be one week only and never happen again. It'just that missing one week once in awhile isn't that big of a deal. Disclaimer---I have never done any of them.

I completely agree I got on for the first time in weeks DAI has consumed my life lol. And I immediatly noticed I'm locked from the weekly and nightfall. The fact that bungie would lock people out of entire modes put a foul taste in my mouth. I went from buying the DLC to closing Destiny and going back to DAI. good job bungie...and for all those who want to tell me leave or whatever nonsense you come up with I can promise I don't care have fun wasting your time

Edited by Abyssal Shift: 12/12/2014 7:58:14 AMThe Nightfall/Weekly/Daily is not a gameplay mode. It is an Event. A timed event. It is no different than the Iron Banner, or Queen's Wrath. Your complaints equate to someone not being able to do those events due to time or skill constraints. It is the same thing. When the events close Bungie is not taking something away from us. It is just how the event works. This is no different. If one of the events is DLC locked then you simply can't participate in it. That is what you get for not buying the DLC. Bungie owes you nothing. If you don't like it, play something else for the week, or do any one of the other activites this game has to offer.
-
Yea its annoying but its only for this week. I get the whole "taking our content away" thing but all this fuss from countless people because you have to go 7 days without a nightfall?? You can still reach lvl 31 without dlc so Bungie could of screwed you over far worse.
-
Im with you, I've been locked out of gamemodes that I've already paid for... >.< Bungie..please think in all the people.
