It says: "Is the upgrade automatic?" No. You'll choose where you invest the effort.It continues to say that the new exotics will be more powerful as well...I guess you can turn in your exotic to xur for 7000 glimmer and an exotic shard and then grind it back up to be on par with newer DLC equipment if you like it or don't have a way to purchase it through rep or RNG?
