Why is US' grading system so bad?

Edited by Jono: 12/10/2014 2:53:08 AMAt my high school these were the grades: A = 100 - 90 B = 89 - 80 C = 79 - 70 D = 69 - 67 F = 67 - 0 The D range was the rarest grade.
