The lead writer for this game left less than a year before launch. That's why the story is bare bones. The story was either not finished or they changed it so they didn't have to pay the old writer. After that they hired someone to write the Grimoire cards. That apparently happened in January. Which is why they aren't in the game. There wasn't enough time.

  • Witcher developers just delayed one of the most anticipated games of the last 5 years by 12 weeks. Why? They said they had some bugs and felt like the fans deserved better then having to download patches day 1. This is what's needed in the gaming industry. Giving a damn about the fans.

  • Bungie asked for an extension on releasing the game. Guess what, Activision told them no. All these issues behind the story stem from Activision wanting their money and now, giving no regard to what might happen to the fans or Bungie's reputation as excellent story teller's. Granted the majority of the original Bungie team is 343i, so maybe that's why Joe Staten went back to Microsoft...

  • Yeah that's fairly common knowledge now, but what's the excuse for Dark Below? Its obvious a staggeringly vast majority of it was already existing. If they didn't want to spend cash on cutscenes alright, but they had time now, they could've done the pack right. Before launch they're relying on Activision's teat for financial support, not so much now. Now they left a skeleton crew behind to half ass support reimplementation of cut content, while everyone else moved on to 2016s hype train Destiny 2. Nothing else we get for this game is going to be anything different then what we got sadly.

  • Sorry, not sure what you mean by "what's the excuse for Dark Below? Its obvious a staggeringly vast majority of it was already existing." And "they could've done the pack right" Could you please elaborate on TDB's issues, because I'm liking it so far... And haven't found any of the glitches that plagued the last Raid.

  • I'm saying they had the time to do a good job on the story aspect of Dark Below since everything was either already made and I. Game, or already made and on disc. So them still putting in 2 hours content. And still half passing the story, is inexcusable

    I see what you're saying, and I definitely agree that cut-scenes should have been implemented. It's odd playing a Bungie game and having to read the story elsewhere instead of seeing epic cinematic's that explain it. I'm skeptical towards the rumors about it already being in game or on disc, but it is also pretty well known that Dev's start developing DLC while still developing the core game in order to get ahead of the DLC release date. And all this at the behest of the publisher >:(. I would have to disagree with your comment on it only being two hrs content with a Raid: roughly 6 hrs, a Strike: 30 - 45 min., and 3 new missions: time can vary depending on if you're soloing it or with a fire team, and lvl of difficulty but I would say all three missions combined to be roughly 2 hrs.

  • Nothing to be skeptical about, there's videos of folks stilling thru Rasputin's bunker and the moon temple from right after launch. The weapons have been there as well. Only thing they turned on was spawns. I don't care about cut scenes, but more story and voice over was horribly needed. Reusing the same areas we've already had access to for 80% of the dlc is just beyond the pail
